Project Engineer Intern Summer 2027

Location: San Jose, California(in-office position; remote option unavailable)

Therma is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Project Engineer Intern to join our team in San Jose, California. This is a hands-on, in-office opportunity to gain real-world experience in mechanical construction project management — from pre-construction through job closeout. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, brings strong communication and problem-solving skills, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Support the pre-construction process through specification analysis, quantity takeoffs, and plan reading
• Analyze material and subcontractor quotes to support accurate, competitive bid submissions
• Assist with bid preparation and submission for mechanical construction projects
• Coordinate with subcontractors to track scope, schedule, and deliverables
• Support material ordering and procurement tracking to keep projects on schedule
• Attend and document project meetings, tracking action items and key decisions
• Assist with job cost review and tracking to support budget accuracy
• Participate in team meetings and cross-functional coordination as needed

Educational Background Requirements & Eligibility
The internship program is open to students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework at an accredited college or university. A valid driver's license is required. Candidates may be required to complete pre-employment drug screening when required by client or project-specific requirements.

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to prioritize, take direction, and manage multiple assignments
• Self-motivated with the ability to work productively with minimal supervision
• Proactive, takes initiative, and brings a positive, team-oriented attitude
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus
