C++ Software Engineer

About the team

We are a small, collaborative software development team supporting market-making and brokerage systems.

The role’s primary responsibility will be maintaining and improving an automated market-making process. In addition, you will contribute to a variety of backend development projects across the brokerage environment. These projects may involve improving existing applications, investigating issues and developing new functionality.

Our systems are primarily written in C++ and run on Linux.

What you’ll do

• Maintain, enhance, and support an automated market-making application
• Develop and maintain C++ and python backend applications and services used in brokerage-related systems.
• Investigate issues in existing software, identify root causes, and implement reliable fixes.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude and Codex, responsibly to support design, implementation, testing, debugging, and code review.
• Write clear, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Work primarily in a Linux environment using GCC and common command-line development tools.
• Collaborate closely with other developers and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.
  
  

What we’re looking for

Required

• Good programming ability in C++ appropriate to your level of experience.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, common data structures, algorithms, and the C++ Standard Library.
• Strong logical and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, understand, debug, and improve an existing C++ codebase.
• Familiarity with Linux or a strong willingness to work in a Linux-based development environment.
• Familiarity with version control.
• Care and attention to detail, particularly when working on systems that support trading and market-making activity.
• Ability to communicate clearly, ask good questions, and work effectively as part of a small team.
• Willingness to take ownership of tasks and follow them through to completion.
• A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.

For junior candidates

• University-level knowledge of C++, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and the STL is sufficient.
• Relevant personal, academic, internship, or professional programming experience is welcome.
• You should be eager to learn from an existing codebase and develop your skills in production software development.

For mid-level candidates

• Professional experience developing and maintaining C++ applications.
• Experience debugging production issues and working with existing, long-lived codebases.
• A practical understanding of software design, testing, performance, and maintainability.
• Ability to work independently on well-defined tasks while knowing when to involve others.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial systems, trading systems, market making, prediction markets, or other data-intensive backend systems
