ASRC Federal Advanced Research LLC (AFAR)is seekingaComputer/Data Scientist to join ourAirport Surface Detection Equipment, Model X (ASDE-X) teamthat supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).This is afull-timeon-siteposition at theMike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC)inOklahoma City, OK.
The ASDE-X is an FAA surveillance system that tracksaircraft and vehicles on airport runways and taxiways to prevent collisions, especially in low visibility.
Citizenship/Permanent Residency Requirement
All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance.
- Be a USCitizen.
- Has resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years.
- RealID Driver’s License/ID or current US Passport.
Relocation Requirement
Candidate mustreside or be willing torelocate within a commutable distance to theMike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) inOklahoma City, OK.
Education & Experience Requirement
All non-US Degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate provided by the candidate at the time of application.
- ABachelors (ABET)degreeinEngineering or related IT field, such as Physics, Aerospace, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
- Experience with NAS facilities, systems, and equipment is highly desirable.
- 3 - 6years of related work experience.

Experience in:
- Writing PL/SQL scripts for Oracle and SQL queries.

- Ability to:
- Work independently, as well as on a team, in an agile environment.
- Research, troubleshoot and problem solve quickly.
- Learn on the job/willing to self-teach.
- Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication with high organization.

Experience in:

- Oracle DB administration
Essential Daily Job Duties
- Analyze high-throughput surface surveillance data to detect system anomalies, tracking inaccuracies, coverage gaps, and performance patterns.
- Collaborate with backend system engineers to define data specifications and pipeline requirements.
- Design,optimize, andmaintain SQL queries and Power BI dashboards for system performance measurement.
- Establish data validation standards and quality metrics.
- Attend meetings, design reviews, working groups, and briefings.
Work Environment
- Standard flexible work schedule.
- Travel is< 10%.
