
Preventive Case Worker
Location: Newburgh, NY
Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM (40hrs) with Flexibility. On-Call responsibilities once every four weeks.

OVERVIEW OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The goals of the preventive program within the wrap around model are to keep families together, while continually assessing for risk and safety issues. The objectives are to strengthen families and to stabilize and maintain family functioning. Â
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Providing on-going services and supervision to Child Welfare families. Â
- Makes accurate assessments for safety and interventions and is comfortable addressing situational issues.Â
- Conducts home visits through Orange County. Â
- Writes detailed reports and maintains documentation.   Â
- Maintains relationships with Department of Social Services, mental health providers, schools and all other service providers. ·       Â
- MUST transport clients in own vehicle as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.    Â
- Time management and organizational skills.Â
- Computer skills (typing, using software).
- Flexibility to work with families in a family friendly schedule.
- Experience with Child Welfare System.
- Spanish speaking strongly preferred.Â
- Valid unrestricted driver's license required
- Access to a reliable vehicle required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS/BA in Human Services field required
- Up to 3 years’ experience working with families and field workÂ

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
The position requires the physical ability to perform community-based and home-visiting duties safely and effectively. The employee should be able to:
- Travel throughout Orange County to conduct home visits and meet with families and service providers.
- Sit for extended periods while driving, completing documentation, attending meetings, and providing services.
- Frequently walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and move around various home and community environments.
- Enter and navigate residential settings that may vary in size, condition, accessibility, and layout.
- Safely assist clients with routine transportation needs using a personal vehicle, when required.
- Carry and transport work-related materials, files, or equipment weighing approximately 10–20 pounds.
- Use a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment for extended periods.
- Maintain sufficient visual, auditory, and motor abilities to observe the environment, communicate effectively, document services, and respond appropriately to safety concerns.
- Maintain the physical stamina and mobility necessary to perform field-based work and respond appropriately to changing family and environmental circumstances.
- Be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or other hours based on family and program needs.
- Perform duties in a manner that supports personal safety, client safety, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
