KLA advanced computing Labs’ (ACL) mission in India is to deliver advanced parallel computing research and software architectures for AI + HPC + Cloud solutions to accelerate the performance of KLA's products. ACL explores high-risk approaches, pioneering technologies, and novel methods to accelerate KLA’s algorithms and contribute to KLA’s HPC technology roadmap. Located out of the IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai, India, we engage leading thinkers in academia, industry and KLA’s business units to create innovative parallel computing methods to enable KLA’s business growth.

JobDescription/Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced and motivatedSoftware Engineering Manager to build and lead a high-performing team focused onscientific computing solutions in Chennai, India. This team is responsible for developing scalable, high-performance software systems that support complex computational workflows in KLA’s inspection and metrology platforms.

In this role, you will providetechnical leadership, people management, and delivery ownership for software built usingC#, C++, and the .NET/Windows ecosystem, enabling robust and optimized solutions for scientific and engineering applications.

You will partner closely with scientists, system engineers, and global software teams to translate computational requirements intoefficient, scalable, and production-grade software systems. This is ahands-on leadership role ideal for a manager who enjoys developing talent while remaining deeply engaged in architecture, performance optimization, and engineering excellence.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and grow a high-performing software engineering team in Chennai focused onscientific computing and high-performance applications.
  • Provide technical leadership andarchitectural guidance for systems built usingC#, C++, and .NET/Windows platforms.
  • Drive the design and development ofscalable, performant, and maintainable software solutions for computationally intensive applications.
  • Translate complex scientific and system-level requirements intoclear technical designs, execution plans, and deliverables.
  • Establish and enforce best practices incode quality, performance optimization, testing, and maintainability.
  • Lead design reviews, code reviews, and mentor engineers onmodern software engineering principles.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists and engineers to deliverintegrated, high-impact solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, includingautomation, tooling, and productivity enhancements.
  • Enable adoption ofmodern development practices, including AI-assisted coding tools and advanced debugging/analysis workflows.
  • Own delivery commitments, includingplanning, execution tracking, and risk management.
  • Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis ofcomplex computational and system-level issues.
  • Contribute to building a strong engineering culture focused oninnovation, ownership, and technical excellence.

🔹 Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 9+ years of software development experience, with2+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
  • Strong experience inC# or C++ development within .NET/Windows environments.
  • Proven ability to design and delivermedium-to-large scale software systems in multi-developer environments.
  • Strong understanding ofperformance optimisation, scalability, and system design principles.
  • Experience developingscientific computing or computationally intensive applications.
  • Experience translating complex requirements intotechnical architecture and execution plans.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handlecomplex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in global team environments.
  • Experience withAI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Windsurf).

 🔹 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience buildingcomplex distributed systems.
  • Familiarity withUI/UX design considerations in engineering applications.
  • Prior experience building or scaling engineering teams in India.
  • Exposure tosemiconductor inspection, metrology, or scientific instrumentation domains is a plus.
