Product Engineer (Software Engineer)

About the Role

A well-funded fintech startup is looking for aProduct Engineer to help build financial products that optimize taxes, bridge paychecks, and build credit for consumers. You'll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business leaders to ship high-impact features for a growing base of paying users — directly contributing to their financial wellbeing.

What You'll Do

• Build product features end-to-end, including domain models, business logic, and API integrations.

• Practice a data-driven, incremental approach to product development, shipping toward bold milestones.

• Leverage robust data pipelines and analytics infrastructure — using SQL and other analysis tools — to evaluate product and system performance.

• Test and debug complex state machines in an event-driven, pub/sub backend to ensure a seamless user experience.

• Ship to production daily via a rapid CI/CD process, owning implementations end-to-end and responding to production incidents as needed.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

• Experience withGo (Golang) deployed onGCP.

• Directconsumer product experience — you've built for end consumers, not exclusively B2B.

• Proficiency in designing and consumingRESTful APIs, including authentication/authorization patterns and rate limiting.

• Experience withrelational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), including data modeling and query optimization.

• Hands-on experience withCI/CD pipelines, version control, automated testing, and code review processes.

• Experience withevent-driven architectures and message queues (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub) for scalable data pipelines.

• Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong CS fundamentals.

Nice to have:

• Background at a startup (preferred over Big Tech, though Big Tech experience is welcome).

• Experience in fintech or financial services.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $120,000 – $200,000 USD annually, depending on experience.

• Visa sponsorship is available.

This is anon-site role based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates should be prepared to work from the office.
