Accountant at Algol Chemicals (Lithuania, Kaunas)

We are now looking for an

Accountant

to become a vital member of the Algol Chemicals Lithuania team, responsible for overseeing accounting activities, with the support of your colleagues in the finance team.

This is a temporary parental leave substitute position for over 2 years, with the desired start date on November 16, 2026, and estimated to last until early 2029.

Responsibilities:

• Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with Lithuanian accounting standards and regulations. Ensure compliance with Algol Group requirements. Post general ledger entries and track and categorize business expenses.

• Cash Management: Bank Account Management:Make payments, import and export bank statements, and reconcile bank statements. Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Prepare Balance Sheet and P&L reports and perform intercompany reconciliations. Submit financial reports to regulatory authorities

• Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit all tax returns accurately and on time, including VAT calculation and reporting.

• Payroll Processing:Calculate and process employee salaries, including taxes and social contributions.

• Audit Preparation:Prepare financial statements and documentation for external audits. Collaborate with auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.

• Internal Controls:Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

• Support:Provide support to company management as needed. Ensure that the team follows accounting principles and best practices.

• Communication: Effectively communicate financial information to internal stakeholders, including executives and managers, and provide financial insights that contribute to strategic decision-making.

• Continuous Learning and Compliance:Keep up to date with changes in Lithuanian accounting and tax laws that may impact the company.

Requirements:

• Relevant education

• Some experience in a similar role

• Proficiency in VAT, accounting, and financial statements

• Fluency in Lithuanian and English

• IT skills and a willingness to learn
