Dry Dock Inspector 

Location:Silverdale, Washington (Bangor) 

Type: Exempt 

Work Schedule: Full-time  

Compensation:$115,000.00-$135,000.00/annually (Tessera's compensation strategy is to position new employees between the minimum and midpoint of this range, depending on qualifications and experience.)

Tessera is seeking a detail-orientedDry Dock Inspector to conduct regularinspections, identify materialcondition, maintenance and repair needs, and ensuring safety regulations and industry standards forthe facilities andequipment that comprises the graving dock and supporting systems in the contract.Productivity, workplace safety, customer satisfaction, and the team’s success are dependent on theleadership team position’s efforts.The success of this position will draw from Tessera’s leadershipcompetencies: Mission and Values: Safety Leadership; Operations Excellence; Customer Service; andServant Leadership. 

 

Typical duties include but are not limited to:  

  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems associated with the to the Dry Dock and equipment and toidentify maintenance needs andpossible safety hazards. 

  • Evaluate the condition of facilities and equipment andmaintainaccurate records of findings and recommended repairs. 

  • Collaborate with maintenance team members to develop and prioritize actionable maintenance and repair plansin accordance with UFC, MIL-STD, and OEM specifications. 

  • Assist in the development of preventive maintenance schedules and programs to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency. 

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as organizational policiesregarding health and safety standards. 

  • Participate in recertification inspections and audits for the Dry Dock and supported systems. 

  • Ensure Dry Dock critical spare parts inventories are maintained per contract requirements. 

  • Provide detailed reports on inspection findings, outlining issuesidentified, corrective actionsrequired, and timeline for resolution. 

  • Manage and track discrepancies and maintenance requests through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). 

  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve maintenance activities. 

  • Train and mentor junior maintenance staff on inspection techniques and safety protocols. 

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to minimize operational disruptions and ensure a safe and efficient work environment. 

  • Use of handheld tablets and personal devices isrequired. 

  • All Other Duties as Assigned. 

 

Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor's degree inMarineFacilities andGravingDocks,or closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 

  • 5-8 Years of experience in Marine Maintenance orclosely related field. 

  • Strong understanding of graving dock systems (Dewatering equipment, gates, valves, tunnels, pumps, and structural components.) and maintenance practices. 

  • Knowledge of Unified Facility Criteria requirements, MIL Standards, and NAVFAC P-Documents associated with Graving Docks and equipment. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

Employees must have the ability toperform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or withoutassistance. The physical demands of this position may bereasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.   

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to70 pounds. 

  • May berequired to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties. 

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also berequired.  

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

  • A valid state driver’s license isrequired with the ability to obtain andmaintain coverage byTessera’s insurance.
