QA Engineering Intern

Copart Tech’sTest Automation Team is looking for a motivated and technically curiousTest Automation Intern to learn and contribute to quality and automated testing across ourdata products, data contracts, data pipelines, reporting, and analytics solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student or early-career candidate with a foundation inJava, SQL, and software development concepts who is interested in learning how data quality and automated testing are integrated into modern data and analytics solutions.

The ideal candidate is aquick learner, problem solver, and team player who enjoys working with data, understanding how systems work, and improving software and data quality through automation.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree inComputer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical education.
• Basic to intermediateJava programming skills with a good understanding of programming fundamentals and object-oriented concepts.
• Good understanding ofSQL and relational databases.
• Strong interest indata quality, software testing, and test automation.
• Ability to understand business or technical requirements and translate them intobasic test scenarios and validation checks.
• Basic understanding ofGit/source control and software development practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in investigating data or application issues.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate withdata engineers, developers, QA engineers, analysts, and product teams.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Academic, internship, or project experience withSQL and data validation.
• Exposure todata pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, or data warehouses.
• Familiarity withdata quality concepts, data profiling, reconciliation, or validation.
• Exposure todata contracts, schemas, APIs, or source-to-target validation.
• Experience withPlaywright, Selenium, or another test automation framework.
• Basic experience withREST API testing.
• Familiarity withGit and CI/CD concepts.
• Exposure to tools such asGitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Experience withPython, TypeScript, or JavaScript is a plus.
• Exposure toreporting or analytics tools is a plus.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms such asGCP, AWS, or Azure is a plus.

What You’ll Learn

As part of the Data & Analytics Test Automation Team, the intern will gain hands-on experience with:

• Data quality and validation across the data lifecycle
• Testing and validatingdata contracts, schemas, and interfaces
• Automated testing ofdata pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
• Source-to-target and reconciliation testing
• SQL-based data validation
• TestingAPIs and data services
• Quality validation forreporting and analytics products
• UI and functional test automation using frameworks such asPlaywright
• Integrating automated tests intoCI/CD pipelines
• Investigating data discrepancies, test failures, and defects
• Understanding how data moves fromsource systems → data pipelines → data warehouse → reporting → analytics products
• Working collaboratively with data engineers, developers, QA engineers, analysts, and product teams

What We’re Looking For

We are primarily looking for someone withstrong programming and analytical fundamentals, basic SQL knowledge, curiosity about data, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn.

Academic coursework, personal projects, internships, coding bootcamps, or university projects involvingJava, SQL, databases, data, or software development are all valuable.

The internship will provide the opportunity to develop practical experience inData QA, Data Quality, Test Automation, CI/CD, Data Engineering, Reporting, and Analytics while working alongside experienced technology professionals.
