J63 is a 24-bed cardiovascular telemetry unit specializing in the care of post-open heart, surgical, and ventricular assist device (VAD) patients. This fast-paced environmentprovides excellent opportunities for nursing growth and development while caring for patients undergoing innovative cardiovascular procedures, including coronary artery bypass surgery, minimally invasive and robotic heart surgery, VADs, valve replacement or repair, and complex procedures such as maze procedures, endarterectomy, and aneurysm repair. 

The unit also cares for patients with a variety of cardiac conditions, including angina, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and patients undergoing pacemaker or defibrillator procedures. RNs provide specialized, evidence-based nursingcare, patient education focused on unique discharge needs, and close monitoring of complex cardiovascular conditions. Working collaboratively with specialized and multidisciplinary teams, RNs on J63 play an essential role in delivering exceptional patient care and supportingoptimal recovery and outcomes. 

A caregiver in this position worksrotating days/nights from7:00AM – 7:30PM or 7:00PM – 7:30AM.Weekend and holiday rotationarerequired. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.  

• Provide direct nursing care alongside asuccess coach.  

• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patientpreference and resource availability).  

• Respond to dataindicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or preventrisk.  

• Seek supervision,consultation andassistance when unable to perform safely and independently.  

• Documentin patients’ medical records.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing(Diploma,ADN or BSN program) 

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

• Newgrad OR less than one year RN work experience OR if an experienced RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less thanone year of current acute direct patient care RN experience 

• Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire 

• If in critical area amAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crosswithin one year of hire 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
