The KP Insight Team is looking for a production cost analyst to join the NexGen Cost Accounting Project (NCAP) regulatory costing team. The team member will complete the monthly costing process for one or more of Kaiser Permanente s market(s) (Health Plan, Hospital and LLC (in the Mid Atlantic Market)).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in finance/accounting or equivalent in a related field and at least 5 years of relevant work experience
Ability to perform complex financial analyses and interpretations with a high degree of accuracy
Understanding of Cost Accounting Principles
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Experience with relational databases, with a degree of technical proficiency
Effective communicator, both written and oral
Alibility to follow established workflow guidelines and adhere to departmental standards with minimal supervision
Preferred Experience:
Data/Business Analyst with 5+ years of Overall Experience.
Experience with StrataJazz or similar costing Platforms
Experience with financial analysis and reporting methods
General Accounting background or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) a plus
Coursework in Business Analytics, Computer Science or information Systems preferred.
CPA and/or master s degree in business or related field is preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare industry, especially healthcare analytics preferred.
Familiarity with Kaiser Permanente healthcare system preferred- including costing, Claims Datawarehouse and Rx.
SQL experience with writing and running queries including a minimal understanding of SQL- initially how to modify queries, with a progression of creating new queries to aid in analysis of costed results.
Data Analytics
Advanced Proficiency in Excel
Mandatory Data bricks experience.

Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for costing claims and non-claims data and balancing cost data back to regional financial statements, analyzing costed utilization to ensure that costs are spread correctly, and auditing the costing process to ensure that costs are allocated correctly. This position will review statistics used to allocate costs to ensure they are accurate. May be responsible for special analytical projects and research of data quality problems. This position will be expected to be a strong analyst with a degree of technical proficiency and solution design, be an effective communicator, and able to manage to timelines.
Job Duties:
Perform monthly costing updates and reconcile results at each interim step to ensure integrity of results
Perform monthly reconciliations of utilization, claims, cost and revenue data to the general ledger and audited financial statements
Maintain a monthly cost model by creating all required reclasses, statistics, and data critical to the costing process
Prepare and analyze complex financial and operational reports
Recommends, improves or creates new costing processes as required
Ability to manage workload within a team environment with minimal direct supervision
