As a Retention Specialist I, you’ll play an important role in keeping patients engaged in their care by helping overcome barriers, preventing appointment cancellations, and reconnecting with patients when appointments need to be rescheduled.Â

Who You AreÂ
You’re a confident and compassionate communicator who knows how to listen, identify concerns, and find solutions. You’re comfortable having conversations that require persistence and problem-solving while ensuring every patient feels heard and supported.Â
You bring:Â
- High school diploma or GED required; some college preferredÂ
- 1–2 years of sales or retention experience requiredÂ
- Healthcare experience preferredÂ
- Excellent written and verbal communication skillsÂ
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skillsÂ
- A dependable approach with reliable attendance and punctualityÂ
- The ability to handle sensitive patient information with professionalism and confidentialityÂ
What You’ll Be DoingÂ
As a Retention Specialist I, you’ll work directly with patients to reduce appointment cancellations and reconnect those who have cancelled. Your responsibilities will include:Â
- Receive inbound calls from patients who are considering cancelling appointmentsÂ
- Use thoughtful retention techniques to understand patient concerns and identify potential solutionsÂ
- Help patients navigate barriers and reschedule appointments when neededÂ
- Make outbound calls and communicate with patients via phone, email, and textÂ
- Re-engage patients who have cancelled appointments and help reconnect them with careÂ
- Accurately track and document patient interactions in the EMR and SalesforceÂ
- Protect the confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA and UVVC policiesÂ
- Demonstrate and promote UVVC’s Core Values: Understanding, Nurturing, Ingenuity, Trust, Excellence, and DiversityÂ
- Support additional Patient Engagement initiatives and responsibilities as neededÂ
