Senior Insurance Structurer

Position Overview

Obra Capital is seeking a Senior Insurance Structuring Professional to lead investment structuring across our private credit, structured credit, asset-backed finance, and other private asset strategies. This individual will bring deep command of insurance regulatory capital rules and an active awareness of market developments across the structured credit landscape. The role sits within Obra's Structured Credit team and requires close collaboration across investment, legal, and finance functions. Obra's investment activity spans a wide range of asset classes — from residential transition loans and trade finance to aviation and bespoke one-off structures — and the ideal candidate is equally comfortable operating within established frameworks and navigating novel deal types from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structuring of complex investment transactions across private credit, structured credit, asset-backed finance, fund investments, lending platforms, and other private asset strategies — including residential transition loans, aviation, trade finance, and bespoke structures.
• Design investment structures that align with insurance liabilities, portfolio objectives, risk appetite, liquidity needs, and Obra's capital framework.
• Serve as the firm's internal expert on insurance capital rules — including U.S. statutory frameworks, Bermuda, and Cayman — and translate regulatory developments into actionable structuring decisions.
• Stay current on market trends, regulatory changes, and evolving best practices in structured credit and insurance-linked investing, bringing timely perspectives to the investment team.
• Integrate closely with Obra's Structured Credit team to ensure structuring work is aligned with broader portfolio strategy and investment objectives.
• Act as primary liaison with rating agencies and collaborate with internal and external counsel on legal documentation, vehicle formation, collateral arrangements, and financing agreements.
• Provide senior leadership with recommendations on structure, risk mitigants, and portfolio fit — including on asset classes and deal types where no established template exists.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience in investment structuring, insurance investments, or a related field.
• Deep, working knowledge of U.S. insurance regulatory capital — NAIC designations, RBC, and statutory accounting — as well as Bermuda and Cayman frameworks (BSCR, MCR/PCR).
• Breadth across asset classes: experience with residential transition loans, aviation finance, trade finance, or other specialty asset-backed strategies is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to stay current on regulatory and market developments and apply them practically to structuring decisions.
• Experience with structured credit, asset-backed finance, private credit, securitizations, or reinsurance transactions.
• Comfortable working on bespoke and first-of-kind structures with limited precedent.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross-functionally within a fast-moving investment platform.

Compensation: 

The expected base salary range for this role is outlined below. In addition to the base salary, total compensation may include a discretionary bonus based on performance. This range given is a best faith estimate which reflects a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, education, location and other qualifications pertinent to the position. Base salary does not include any other performance based compensation such as year end cash bonus.
