Global Director of Facilities

Newlab is seeking a Global Director of Facilities to oversee the operation, maintenance, and continued development of our facilities across Brooklyn, Detroit, New Orleans, and future locations.

This role will ensure that Newlab’s buildings, laboratories, workshops, and shared infrastructure operate safely, reliably, and consistently. This role will also manage renovations, construction projects, capital improvements, and the transition of new facilities from development into ongoing operations.

The position is based in Brooklyn and reports to senior leadership.

Roles & Responsibilities 

• Oversee facilities operations across all Newlab locations.
• Establish consistent systems for maintenance, safety, security, vendors, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage construction, renovation, and capital-improvement projects from planning through completion.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, landlords, public partners, and internal teams.
• Develop annual operating and capital budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Support the evaluation, design, construction, and opening of future Newlab locations.
• Build and manage local facilities teams and third-party service providers.
• Provide clear reporting on project schedules, budgets, risks, and building performance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in facilities management, construction, real estate operations, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex construction or renovation projects.
• Strong project-management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and contractor oversight.
• Experience overseeing multiple facilities or locations.
• Familiarity with industrial, laboratory, manufacturing, or technically complex buildings preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly (1-2x per month) among Newlab locations.

Compensation & Benefits  

• We expect this role's base salary to be $175,000 - $210,000 commensurate with a candidate's experience. 
• Eligible for a bonus program.
