Mattermost is seeking aSeniorTechnical Account Manager (TAM) to serve as a trusted technical advisor to ourU.S. Federal and enterprise customers. In this role, you will ensure the successful deployment, integration, and secure operation of the Mattermost platform inmission-critical and high-security environments.
You will combine expertise ininfrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps with strong customer engagement and project leadership skills. As a strategic partner, you will bridgeengineering, product, and customer teams, driving secure, compliant, and scalable implementations that enable organizations to collaborate with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Success & Secure Solution Delivery
Lead technical onboarding, configuration, and production deployments forstrategic enterprise and U.S. Federal customers
Design, validate, and implementsecure, scalable architectures for Mattermost acrosscloud, on-premise, hybrid, and air-gapped environments
Support alignment with security and compliance frameworks such asFedRAMP, NIST 800-53, DoD STIG, and SOC 2
Guide customers in integrating Mattermost withauthentication and identity management systems (SSO, SAML, OAuth), DevOps pipelines, and monitoring tools
Provide proactive technical guidance to minimize operational risk and ensure long-term platform success
Technical Leadership & Advocacy
Serve as theprimary technical point of contact for assigned accounts
Collaborate withProduct, Engineering, and Support to resolve complex technical issues and advocate for customer needs
Develop reusable deployment assets includingscripts, playbooks, and technical documentation to accelerate implementations
Participate in internal reviews to improveonboarding methodologies and deployment best practices
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Present complex technical concepts toboth executive and technical stakeholders, tailoring communication to audience and context
Build trusted relationships that driveadoption, expansion, and long-term customer success
Maintain detailed records ofarchitectural decisions, deployment strategies, and customer feedback
Required Qualifications
Senior-level experience in Technical Account Management, Sales Engineering, Customer Success Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role
Strong technical knowledge ofLinux system administration, networking, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure
Hands-on scripting or development experience withPython, Go, Node.js, or similar languages
Strong understanding ofcybersecurity principles and secure system architecture
Familiarity withDevSecOps tools and workflows (GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, Terraform, etc.)
Experience managinglarge enterprise or government customers and aligning technical delivery with business and security requirements
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled information as defined by U.S. export control laws, including EAR and ITAR.
This role may require the candidate to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working withU.S. Federal agencies, defense organizations, or regulated industries
Familiarity withIT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks
Knowledge of compliance standards such asFedRAMP, NIST, SOC 2, or ISO 27001
Experience withsecure collaboration platforms or open-source technologies
Exposure tomobile device management (Intune, Workspace ONE, MobileIron) environments
Experience working in astartup or high-growth SaaS environment

Compensation
Mattermost takes a market-based approach to pay. Actual compensation may vary based on location, skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
Target Salary Range: $125,000 - $165,000 USD plus commission
U.S. Eligibility & Compliance
