Family Court Adviser

Liquid Personnel is recruiting a Cafcassto join its client’s Family Court Adviser team, based in Manchester.This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled social worker to work within Private Law and Work After First Hearing (WAFH) proceedings, ensuring children's welfare remains at the heart of all decision-making.

As a Family Court Adviser, you will provide advanced social work support to children, families, and the courts. You will be responsible for assessing risk, analysing complex family situations, advising courts on safeguarding and welfare concerns, and working directly with children and families to achieve positive outcomes.

What will your responsibilities be? 

• Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families involved in family court proceedings.
• Analyse complex information and make evidence-based recommendations to the court.
• Assess risk and identify safeguarding concerns to ensure children are protected.
• Work directly with children and families to understand their experiences and wishes.
• Prepare high-quality reports and provide professional advice to the court.
• Liaise effectively with local authorities, legal professionals, schools, health services, and other partner agencies.
• Manage a diverse caseload while maintaining accurate and timely records

Work After First Hearing:

The WAFH service involves work completed after the first court hearing, including:

• Detailed assessments of children and family circumstances.
• Direct work with children and families.
• Report writing and evidence gathering.
• Ongoing recommendations to the court to support the best outcomes for children.

Private Law:

Private Law work focuses on disputes between parents or carers regarding child arrangements, including:

• Child contact arrangements.
• Residence and living arrangements.
• Assessing welfare and safeguarding concerns.
• Supporting families to remain focused on the needs and best interests of the child.
• Providing advice and recommendations to the court. 

Qualifications and Experience: 

To be successful in this role you must have;  

The ideal candidate will:

• Be a qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Have a recognised Social Work qualification.
• Possess a minimum of three years' post-qualifying experience working with children and families.
• Demonstrate strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
• Have excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
• Be able to manage complex and sensitive cases effectively.
• Work confidently under pressure and within court timescales.
• Have strong IT and case management skills.
