Doxim's Next Facilities Maintenance Technician
The Facility Maintenance Technician supports the Facilities Manager by performing hands-on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and general facility upkeep. This position helps ensure that building systems, production-support equipment, utilities, and grounds remain safe, reliable, and operational.
The Facilities Maintenance Technician works independently on routine and moderately complex assignments, responds to work orders and facility emergencies, and escalates significant concerns or specialized repairs to the Facilities Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems, equipment, utilities, and building components.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, lighting, and general building systems within the employee’s training and authorization.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance activities according to established procedures and timelines.
- Respond promptly to work orders, equipment failures, safety concerns, and urgent facility needs.
- Diagnose maintenance problems, determine appropriate corrective actions, and escalate complex or high-risk issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Install, repair, or replace lighting, outlets, switches, plumbing fixtures, doors, locks, ceiling tiles, hardware, and other facility components.
- Monitor building automation systems, utility systems, alarms, and equipment conditions as assigned.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms, production areas, offices, grounds, rooftops, and other facility areas.
- Assist contractors and vendors by providing site access, communicating the scope of work, and reporting progress or concerns to the Facilities Manager.
- Support facility improvement projects, equipment installations, office moves, renovations, and other assigned projects.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work, labor, materials, inspections, equipment conditions, and follow-up needs in the computerized maintenance management system.
- Maintain tools, equipment, replacement parts, and maintenance work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
- Identify needed parts and supplies and communicate purchasing or inventory needs to the Facilities Manager.
- Follow established safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, ladder safety, and electrical-safety requirements.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment damage, environmental concerns, and potential compliance issues.
- Assist with emergency-response, evacuation, weather-preparation, and business-continuity activities.
- Recommend opportunities to improve equipment reliability, safety, energy efficiency, and maintenance processes.
- Provide technical assistance to less-experienced maintenance employees when requested.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours facility emergencies when required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least three years of facility, commercial building, industrial, manufacturing, or related maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and general building-maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve routine and moderately complex maintenance problems.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, meters, and maintenance diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read work orders, equipment manuals, safety instructions, diagrams, and basic blueprints or schematics.
- Basic computer skills and experience using email, work-order software, or a computerized maintenance management system.
- Strong organization, time-management, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently with limited supervision.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime, weekends, or emergency call-ins.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record if operating company vehicles is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of relevant facility or industrial maintenance experience.
- Technical school, trade school, apprenticeship, or military technical training.
- EPA Section 608, OSHA 10, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or other relevant certification.
- Experience working in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or other high-volume operational environment.
- Experience with building automation systems, fire and life-safety systems, generators, air compressors, or production-support utilities.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system.
Physical and Work Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and work in confined or elevated areas.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Safely operate ladders, lifts, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Work indoors and outdoors in environments that may involve noise, dust, temperature changes, moving equipment, mechanical hazards, or other facility-related conditions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Be available for occasional evenings, weekends, overtime, emergency call-ins, or on-call coverage based on operational needs.

Compensation
This is an hourly position. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, technical skills, certifications, internal equity, geographic location, and applicable law.
