👐About the mission
Alma is entering a new phase of international growth. After establishing a strong presence across Europe, we are investing in local leadership to accelerate enterprise adoption, strengthen our partner ecosystem and build high-performing country organisations.
You own the business. That means building and running the local revenue engine: managing enterprise and mid-market sales teams, designing the go-to-market for your market, and driving the cross-functional work (specifically with Marketing, Partnerships, Product, Legal, Risk and Operations) that unlocks local growth . You're the person merchants, partners and the ecosystem meet at the table. You're the person internally who makes sure your market gets what it needs to win.
It's a Country Manager role where sales leadership is one of the core inputs and where the output is a healthy, growing local business.
This position is a Permanent role based in Germany (full remote contract).
💼About the job
Build, hire, and lead the local sales team
This is the most important part of the role. You are building the Alma team in your country from the ground up.
- Recruit and scale Account Executives: Enterprise AEs and Mid-Market AEs
- Set the hiring bar high - every person you bring in shapes the culture and performance of the market
- Manage, coach, and develop your team once onboard: pipeline reviews, deal coaching, performance management
- Remain personally involved in strategic enterprise opportunities while progressively shifting your focus toward team leadership and market development
- Own the local new business number across both segments
- Define the right coverage model between segments - which accounts go where, how the teams collaborate without stepping on each other
Own the country P&L
- You are accountable for the country's business performance: TPV, revenue growth, cost envelope, contribution margin, and profitability trajectory
- You are the voice of your market on resource allocation (headcount and key investment priorities)
- Report on performance vs. business plan monthly to HQ
Build and execute the local GTM
- Define the next 12 to 18-month market plan, including priority verticals, target accounts, partner channels and local demand-generation priorities
- Define how Alma wins in your market: which segments, which verticals, which channels
- Adapt the playbook to local dynamics - buying behavior, competitive landscape, partner ecosystem
- Set the right priorities and sequence them
Drive cross-functional squads
- Identify what your country needs to grow: product localization, marketing campaigns, partnership agreements, regulatory unlocks
- Animate the people across Product, Marketing, Legal, Partnerships, and Ops to deliver those needs without direct authority over them
- Translate local market signals into clear, prioritized asks to HQ
Represent Alma and build the local ecosystem
This is a highly visible role externally. You are the person people in your market associate with Alma.
- Be the face of Alma: with merchants, prospects, partners, media, and industry events
- Build and animate the local partner ecosystem - payment integrators, e-commerce platforms, tech partners, trade associations, and strategic resellers. This is a key growth lever and a direct input to pipeline
- Own C-level relationships with key enterprise accounts

🧩About you
Mandatory
- Native or bilingual fluency in German; professional-level English
- 8+ years of experience in B2B commercial roles, with a track record in enterprise sales
- Experience managing a sales team - you've coached, hired, and developed senior AEs before
- Comfortable operating in a matrix environment: you know how to get things done without direct authority
- Based in France or Germany, with a strong local network in commerce, retail, or adjacent sectors
Strong plus
- Background in fintech, payments, SaaS, or financial services
- Experience in a fast-scaling company where the playbook wasn't fully written yet
- Has worked directly with cross-functional teams to shape product or go-to-market decisions
Who you are
- Autonomous. You don't wait for HQ to tell you what to do - you come with a view and you execute
- Analytically sharp. You build your market strategy from data, not intuition alone
- Radically honest. You flag problems early, internally and externally
- Obsessed with impact. You focus time on what actually moves the business, not what looks busy
- A builder. You're more energized by creating than by maintaining
