Java/Scala Developer

About the role

We are looking for aJava/Scala Developer to join an international technology team operating in a global financial environment.

The role covers thefull software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through development and testing to production deployment. You will work with modern backend technologies, large-scale data processing and distributed systems while collaborating with colleagues across multiple international locations.

Responsibilities:

• Parallelize and optimize accounting and financial calculations usingApache Spark
• Develop and maintain backendREST web services
• Integrate applications through predefined interface and contract agreements
• Manage and improve batch-based data processing workflows
• Optimize data orchestration processes with a focus on performance and stability
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, includingrequirements analysis, design, development, testing and production rollout
• SupportDevOps automation and continuous deployment practices
• Collaborate with global teams acrossBudapest, London, New York, Montreal and India

Requirements:

• Strong development experience withJava, preferablySpring
• Experience withScala or a comparable programming language
• Solid knowledge ofSQL and relational databases, such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase or DB2
• Experience with Big Data technologies or repositories such asHadoop or MongoDB
• Understanding of modernSDLC methodologies andAgile practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an international environment

Nice to Have:

• Experience withUNIX/Linux application debugging
• Experience with DevOps automation tools and scripting, such asAutoSys, UNIX Shell, Perl or Python
• Previous experience infinance, accounting or banking
• Knowledge ofbusiness reporting, data science or data processing concepts
