About Edgecortix

EdgeCortix is driving innovation in semiconductor solutions for the connected intelligent edge. Established in 2019 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, with additional offices in the United States and India, the company develops silicon-based, energy-efficient AI processors purpose-built for Generative AI workloads at the edge. The company’s patented hardware-software co-design methodology enables highly efficient runtime-reconfigurable AI accelerators, delivering industry-leading performance-per-watt for edge inference across defense, aerospace, smart cities, Industry 4.0, robotics and telecommunications applications.

The Team

As an engineering driven company we are working to define and solve the hardest problems in AI including computer vision, speech, and natural language, geared towards real-time capabilities on small to medium form factor devices. We originated out of multiple years of research, as such at our core we value learning, intellectual curiosity, and self-starters. We have the ambitious goal of enabling cloud-level performance with significantly better energy-efficiency for AI inference at the edge. Furthermore, by integrating 5G/RAN Accelerator with this unique AI technology, we envision further technological breakthroughs.

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled 5G/RAN Software Engineer to spearhead the development of our cutting-edge, in-house edge AI-RAN Accelerator System. In this role, you will be at the absolute forefront of telecom innovation, breaking the boundaries between traditional wireless communication and edge artificial intelligence. As mobile networks shift towards software-defined Open RAN architectures, you will play a pivotal role in driving wireless intelligence—integrating high-performance L1/L2 processing with native AI acceleration to deliver the future of post-5G/6G infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Architect, design, and develop high-performance software for O-RAN and post-5G/6G wireless systems, specifically targeting our in-house DU (L1/L2) AI-RAN accelerator.
  • Drive end-to-end system definition and requirements from the ground up.
  • Lead R&D initiatives to create next-generation applications fusing AI/ML with RAN telemetry (e.g., intelligent traffic steering, predictive beamforming, or energy saving).
  • Integrate and validate software with Software-Defined Radios (SDRs), advanced wireless testbeds, and embedded RF hardware.
  • Build, optimize, and maintain real-time and near-real-time wireless software pipelines.
  • Support end-to-end system integration, lab testing, live demonstrations, and technical evaluations with global operators and partners.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot complex software, RF, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) issues.
  • Document technical architectures, test procedures, and results; contribute to technical reports and intellectual property (patents/publications) as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong programming proficiency in C, C++, and Python within a Linux environment.
  • Hands-on experience with kernel-bypass and low-latency networking frameworks (e.g., DPDK, eBPF, XDP) or Linux device drivers.
  • Proven track record of developing, debugging, and profiling real-time software in Linux.
  • Experience with Software-Defined Radios (SDRs) and open-source wireless stacks (OpenAirInterface (OAI) or srsRAN/OCUDU).
  • Solid understanding of O-RAN / 5G NR standards, 3GPP architectures
  • Experience in software development or integration for wireless communication systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep expertise in building intelligent O-RAN applications or integrating with Near-RT / Non-RT RICs.
  • Experience applying Machine Learning to RF/wireless signal data, including real-time model deployment and edge inference.
  • Expertise in multi-threading, concurrency, and SMP-safe low-latency programming.
  • Familiarity with hardware acceleration APIs (e.g., DPDK bbdev) and FPGA/ASIC offloading.
  • Solid experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps tools for embedded/telco software.

What’s in it for you?

Make a difference: you will have the opportunity to join a well-funded and rapidly growing fabless AI semiconductor company that is disrupting the AI software and hardware across the edge AI landscape. Be an integral part of its growth and momentum.
