Starting Rate:$22.41 (This rate is non-negotiable and there is a 6-month probationary period). After hire, pay increases are dependent on length of service, advancement in the position, and other contractual factors.

Role Summary

Under the supervision of the Finance Director, an Accounting Specialist is responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable process: entering and researching invoices; accepting and applying payments from tenants and voucher clients and keeping the cash ledgers up-to-date.

Education, Training and Experience (position requirements at entry)

Required:

• Associate’s Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or a related field
• The City of Ann Arbor, at its discretion, may consider an alternative combination of formal education and work experience.

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or a related field
• At least two years experience in Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program and/or Public Housing Programs
• At least four years experience working in the private or public property management experience
• Project-based Accounting, Financial Management certification in an affordable housing program
