Job Summary

The Charge Nurseis responsibleforsupervisingstaff and the operation and overallflow of the uniton his/her designatedshift, andis a rolemodel forallstaff. He/sheisresponsible forcoordinating unitschedulesandstaff assignments and participating in the performanceappraisal process.The Charge Nurseis responsible for ensuringstaffmeet the approved Standardsof Practice, formanagingassigned personnel andunit activities and for promotingcooperativeworking relationshipswith physicians andother healthcare providers. Provides patientcareas needed.The Charge Nurseis a professionalcaregiverwho assumes responsibility and accountability for a groupofpatientsfor a designated time frame.He/sheis aclinical practitioner whocoordinates andimplements patientcarespecificto the age of the patient populationserved on the assigned units. He/she ensures thatqualitycareis provided in an efficient andsafemannerconsistentwith the unit'sstandard ofcare. Utilizesnursingskills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-careandeducational needs of the patient/family/significant other todevelop,implement and revise theplan ofcare.

Job Requirements

Minimum Experience Requirement:

Twoyears acute experiencerequired. Excellentcustomerserviceskills required.

Minimum License Requirement:

California RNlicense.

BLS required.

ACLSis requiredwithin 3months of hire/transfer.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale Certification"A" requiredwithin 3months of hire/transferfor thoseworking atFPH. Annual 1 hour of Stroke Education required for those working at QVH.
