What to Expect

Tesla is seeking an IT Manufacturing Data Lead to support its Palo Alto, CA campus. This role serves as the primary liaison among stakeholders, vendors, technicians, IT Manufacturing, and Network Operations, managing requests from initial scoping through project closeout. Responsibilities include coordinating procurement and site access, maintaining infrastructure documentation, and validating completed work before final approval. The team supports a broad range of activities, from cable repairs and new-area buildouts to the mounting and installation of cameras, televisions, and audiovisual equipment. In this fast-paced environment, the Data Lead collaborates closely with multiple teams to complete work safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to onsite operations. This role is a vital part of the IT Manufacturing organization and directly supports Tesla’s mission to build a world of amazing abundance.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain a daily onsite presence at Palo Alto Campus and serve as the primary point of contact for cabling requests received by email, Microsoft Teams, or in person
• Coordinate and lead onsite line walks with stakeholders and vendors, and oversee and work hands on with onsite data team
• Gather, define, and document project scope, stakeholder needs, and technical and operational requirements
• Engage vendors to conduct site walks, validate quotations, and complete assigned work
• Coordinate with IT Manufacturing to submit purchase orders for in-scope projects and arrange required equipment rentals
• Ensure technicians have the tools, cabling, mounting hardware, and miscellaneous materials required to complete assigned work
• Maintain accurate floor plans, IDF mappings, patch maps, and updating documentation as needed
• Document and coordinate badge-access requirements for data technicians and vendors who require entry to IDF rooms
• Follow the Network team’s established request and documentation processes, submit switch-provisioning requests, and coordinate required follow-up
• Validate vendor deliverables following deployment and before final approval or payment authorization

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years troubleshooting Network installation, cabling and configuration
• 5+ years triaging and repairing data center fiber optic cabling/systems and network hardware
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and overtime
• Experience coordinating structured cabling, network infrastructure, facilities technology, construction, or similar technical projects
• Working knowledge of structured cabling practices, network closets, IDF environments, patch panels, switch provisioning, and related infrastructure documentation
• Experience coordinating vendors, reviewing quotations, tracking service requests, and validating completed work against defined requirements
• Ability to read and maintain floor plans, IDF maps, patch maps, and technical project documentation
• Proficiency with email, Microsoft Teams, ticketing systems, and standard productivity and documentation tools
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate documentation, process compliance, and quality assurance
• Ability to work onsite daily and move throughout the facility to support site walks, project coordination, and work validation
