IT Business Analyst Senior - Onsite

Genesis10 is currently seeking an IT Business Analyst Senior for an on-site position with a Major Financial Institution located in McLean, VA. This is a 6 month contract opportunity.

We are seeking a Senior IT Business Analyst with experience in Operations Research, Systems Design, and business process analysis to translate complex business challenges into well-defined, data-informed business solutions. This role operates at the intersection of business strategy, operations, analytics, process design, and technology. The ideal candidate will serve as a bridge between business and technical teams, helping define problems, evaluate alternatives, and design processes and systems throughout the Product Delivery Lifecycle (PDLC).

Responsibilities:

• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define business problems, objectives, requirements, constraints, and measurable success criteria
• Elicit and translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data flows, and specifications
• Analyze current-state processes and systems and design future-state business solutions using systems thinking and Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN)
• Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement or automation
• Assess the feasibility and impact of proposed solutions across business processes, data, systems, operations, and stakeholders
• Apply Operations Research, quantitative analysis, and structured problem-solving techniques to complex business problems
• Use data, analytical models, and scenario analysis to evaluate alternatives and develop clear, evidence-based recommendations
• Support business solutions throughout the end-to-end PDLC, from discovery and design through development, validation, and implementation
• Collaborate with delivery teams to resolve requirements, process, and design questions
• Demonstrate exceptional note-taking and documentation skills, accurately capturing discussions, decisions, and action items
• Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and decision-making conversations across business and technical teams
• Communicate complex business, analytical, and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative, business, or technical discipline
• Experience as an IT Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Operations Research Analyst, Systems Engineer, or similar role
• Demonstrated experience analyzing complex business processes, operational environments, and technology systems
• Strong experience with requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and translation of business needs into functional or technical requirements
• Experience with Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and business process analysis
• Experience developing process flows, data flows, requirements, specifications, or logical system models
• Understanding of the end-to-end Product Delivery Lifecycle (PDLC)
• Strong analytical, quantitative, critical-thinking, and structured problem-solving skills
• Exceptional note-taking and documentation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across business, product, operations, architecture, engineering, and technology teams

Desired skills:

• Master's degree in Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Analytics, Information Systems, or a related discipline
• Experience applying optimization, simulation, forecasting, decision modeling, or other Operations Research methodologies
• Experience with analytical and modeling tools such as Python, R, SQL, Excel, Power BI, or Visio
• Experience working with AI and AI-enabled business solutions

Pay range: $56.00 - $66.00 per hour
