LaBella is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join our growing, multi-disciplinary Environmental Division in the Mid-Atlantic. This position will play a key leadership role in the continued growth and development of Regulated Building Materials (RBM), Environmental Due Diligence, and Brownfields and Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) services, with a strong focus on Virginia.
The Environmental Manager will work closely with the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director and Environmental Divisional leadership to develop and grow these service areas, strengthen client relationships, and expand LaBella's presence in the Virginia market. This individual will serve as a key resource to other divisions throughout LaBella, helping project managers and division leaders identify opportunities to incorporate RBM, environmental due diligence, and Brownfields services into multidisciplinary projects and pursuits.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced seller-doer and people leader who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent business acumen, client relationship skills, and a demonstrated ability to develop new business. The successful candidate will be comfortable building relationships with both internal and external clients, leading pursuits, managing projects, and identifying opportunities to grow LaBella's RBM, Environmental Due Diligence, and Brownfields services.
This individual will also play an important role in developing the next generation of environmental professionals by providing mentorship, technical guidance, training, career development, and opportunities for junior staff to expand their expertise and responsibilities.
The successful candidate should have experience in one or more of the following core service areas: Regulated Building Materials, including asbestos and lead-based materials inspections; Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and other environmental due diligence services; and Brownfields redevelopment and related environmental assessment and remediation services.
This position is based in LaBella's Richmond, Virginia office and will support projects and clients throughout Virginia.
Duties
- Partner with the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director and Environmental Divisional leadership to develop and execute strategies for the continued growth of Regulated Building Materials, Environmental Due Diligence, and Brownfields services, with a key focus on Virginia.
- Serve as a key Environmental Division leader and resource for other LaBella divisions seeking expertise and support related to RBM, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Brownfields, and related environmental services.
- Work closely with division leaders and project managers across the firm to identify opportunities to incorporate these services into multidisciplinary projects, pursuits, and client relationships.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Participate in business development activities, including client meetings, networking, industry events, presentations, proposal development, and pursuit strategy.
- Identify opportunities to expand RBM, Environmental Due Diligence, and Brownfields services within existing LaBella clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Prepare and lead proposals and pursuit teams for environmental services and multidisciplinary projects.
- Manage projects, including scope, budget, schedule, staffing, client communication, deliverables, and regulatory coordination.
- Provide technical oversight and quality review of reports, proposals, and other environmental deliverables for RBM, Environmental Due Diligence, Brownfields, and related services.
- Provide technical guidance for environmental studies and services, including Asbestos and Lead-Based Materials Surveys, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Brownfields Redevelopment, environmental assessments, and related remediation services.
- Conduct field work as appropriate, particularly when supporting project delivery, staff development, training, and quality control.
- Develop, mentor, and retain junior environmental staff by providing technical guidance, training, coaching, career development, and opportunities for increased responsibility.
- Help maintain a strong culture of collaboration, accountability, technical excellence, professional growth, and knowledge sharing within the Environmental Division.
- Monitor workload, staffing, project capacity, and resource needs within the Environmental Division in coordination with regional leadership.
- Collaborate with Environmental Managers and technical staff throughout LaBella to share resources, expertise, best practices, and opportunities.
- Represent LaBella professionally with clients, regulatory agencies, industry organizations, and the community.
Salary Range: $100,000-120,000
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
- B.S. degree in environmental science, biology, geology, or engineering.
- 20+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience, preferably with significant experience in one or more of the following areas: Regulated Building Materials, Environmental Due Diligence, and/or Brownfields.
- Strong understanding of environmental consulting services and regulatory requirements related to RBM, Environmental Due Diligence, Brownfields, or related environmental services.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the financial and operational aspects of professional consulting services.
- Proven ability to mentor, train, and develop junior staff and help build high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and organizational teams.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong proposal writing, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Highly motivated with a strong commitment to client service and business development.
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Willingness to travel throughout Virginia as needed.
