The Sr. Database Administrator is directly responsible for integrity and security of data for our clients. Ensuring databases are running at their peak performance allows our clients to have the most up to date information when they need it, where they need it, in order to make the most accurate decisions possible. Communicating with the client when there is an issue is the highest priority, so the client knows when their data might not be at it’s best. Your ability to work closely with the team will allow us to keep each other on the same page and to motivate each other to continue to improve. The ability to work without supervision will ensure we maintain our high-quality service to the clients while allowing the team their turn to train and improve the team as a whole.Â
RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
Reporting to the Associate Director of Database, you will:Â
Deliver Excellent Customer ServiceÂ
- Addressing automated alerts, failures, incidents and client requests as they come inÂ
- Communicate clearly and efficiently to clientsÂ
- Document and detail the work, performed in tasksÂ
Be an individual contributor in the DBA teamÂ
- Actively work to improve the service by automation and identifying ways to improve upon our processesÂ
- Support your teammates in achieving team goalsÂ
- Consistently work to improve your knowledge of Data technologiesÂ
Advanced DB WorkÂ
- Expert understanding of SQL Server InternalsÂ
- Expert in Installing, Configuring, patching and migrating Microsoft SQL Server instances. Â
- Expertise in designing, implementing, troubleshooting and fixing all available HA/DR topologies in SQL Server including Log shipping, Replication, AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clusteringÂ
- Facilitate brainstorming meetings with clients to review, analyze, and assess business systems and needsÂ
- Expert in handling database backup and recovery, database access security and integrity, physical data storage design, and data storage administration.Â
- Expert in Database security and auditing.Â
- Create, change, and improve SQL Server Agent tasks and maintenance plansÂ
- Expert in monitoring SQL Server maintenance tasks, troubleshoot failed processes, and address issues as soon as possibleÂ
- Hands-on experience writing and optimizing TSQLÂ
- Expert in handling databases which participate in both replication and always on together.Â
- Expert in creating reports, monitoring, and alerts to better support our clientsÂ
- Expert in troubleshooting and resolving server, DB and query performance issues, application sluggishnessÂ
- Expert in understanding and fixing anti-best practices in DB design.Â
- Expert in handling VLDBsÂ
- Expert in Database Partitioning, Data CompressionÂ
- Expert in implementing Resource Governor Â
- Expert in implementing, troubleshooting and fixing CDCÂ
- Expert in implementing, troubleshooting and fixing Distributed Availability GroupsÂ
REQUIREMENTSÂ
Applicants must possess:Â
- 8+ years ofMS SQL Server experienceÂ
- Good to have PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Azure SQL DB, AWS RDS administration experienceÂ
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooting and fixing various HA/DR topologies with special focus on Transactional Replication and Alwayson Availability groups.Â
- Extensive experience in handling server, DB and query performance issues.Â
- Hands-on experience writing and optimizing TSQLÂ
- Related formal database education or DBA certificationÂ
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsÂ
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Strong understanding of database platforms in an enterprise infrastructure with the ability to utilize database administration toolsÂ

- Industry certifications (MCSA, MCSE, DP-300)Â
- Ability to meet stringent deadlines and handle multiple tasksÂ
- Familiar with Change Management and ITIL processesÂ
