Title: Interim Controller - Banking
Location: San Diego, CA
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Experience Range: 10-15 years

Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to lead financial accounting and regulatory compliance activities for a top-tier banking organization. This role offers the opportunity to manage critical month-end and quarter-end close processes while ensuring full alignment with U.S. GAAP and banking regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Lead all financial accounting, month-end/quarter-end close, and financial reporting activities
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and banking regulatory reporting requirements, including Call Reports and other applicable filings
  • Oversee general ledger management, account reconciliations, and internal controls to maintain audit readiness
  • Partner with senior finance leadership to deliver accurate, timely financial reporting and regulatory submissions
  • Direct and coordinate accounting team efforts to support overall financial operations and compliance objectives
  • Identify and resolve accounting issues while implementing process improvements across the close cycle
  • Maintain strong relationships with external auditors and regulatory examiners
Requirements
  • 10–15 years of financial accounting experience, with demonstrated expertise in banking or financial services
  • CPA designation required
  • Proven proficiency in month-end/quarter-end close and U.S. GAAP financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulatory reporting, Call Reports, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Advanced expertise in general ledger management, reconciliations, and internal controls
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with ability to collaborate across finance and business units
