Our client, a boutique sized reputable law firm located North York, is looking to hire an insurance defence lawyer for a unique role that combines their regular practice with a significant class action project. Can work out of the North York or Ottawa office.
About the Role
- The successful candidate will be handling claims arising from a class action lawsuit. The role will require strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent drafting abilities, as many of the claims will involve preparing written submissions.
- Follow protocols regarding timely reporting to clients
- Review productions or clerks' summaries of productions and report on these
- Attend Examinations for Discovery, Mediations, Licence Appeal Tribunal Proceedings, and other litigation events
- the candidate should be comfortable maintaining a hybrid practice that includes accident benefits and tort matters within their broader civil litigation practice.
- 2+ years of experience at a defence firm
- Must be able to work well independently with little supervision as well as see the benefits of being part of a team
- Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Critical thinking and analysis
- Show discretion and good judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential situations
