Position Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatments and interventions under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA assists residents in improving mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional abilities while maintaining accurate documentation and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Essential Responsibilities

Resident Care & Treatment

• Deliver physical therapy treatments and interventions as established by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist residents with therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance activities, transfer training, and functional mobility programs.
• Monitor resident response to treatment and report changes in condition or progress to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Reinforce resident and family education regarding exercises, safety precautions, mobility techniques, and fall prevention.
• Assist residents in achieving established rehabilitation goals.

Collaboration & Communication

• Communicate effectively with Physical Therapists, nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Participate in care planning and rehabilitation team meetings as requested.
• Promote positive resident outcomes through teamwork and collaboration.

Documentation & Compliance

• Complete timely, accurate, and compliant treatment documentation.
• Maintain therapy records in accordance with facility policies and payer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and safety standards.
• Follow all regulatory and professional practice guidelines.

Quality & Resident Experience

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care.
• Support facility quality improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to a positive rehabilitation experience for residents and families.

Qualifications

Required

• CurrentCalifornia Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) License
• License in good standing
• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques and therapeutic interventions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Commitment to providing exceptional resident care
