SSA Issuing Section Lead
POSITION SUMMARY
The SSA Issuing Section Lead oversees all outbound materiel operations within a theater-level Supply Support Activity (SSA) in Southwest Asia (SWA). This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant issue of Class II, III(P), IV, VII, and IX materiel to supported units across the Area of Responsibility (AOR). The Lead supervises issuing personnel, validates customer requests, ensures record alignment in GCSS-Army, and maintains accountability and audit compliance for all outbound transactions.
HOW A ISSUING SECTION LEAD WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Oversees daily materiel issue operations ensuring timely support to all SSA customers.
Validates customer requisitions, ensures proper documentation, and posts accurate transactions in GCSS-Army.
Ensures correct item identification, quantity verification, and inspection prior to issuing materiel.
Coordinates with Stock Control to validate demand history, availability, and backorder status.
Ensures proper handling of controlled and sensitive items during issue and documentation.
Supervises issue personnel and enforces SSA SOPs, safety standards, and accountability procedures.
Maintains historical issue records and prepares daily issue activity reports.
Conducts causative research and collaborates with Stock Control and Receiving to resolve discrepancies.
Ensures accurate staging, labeling, and load preparation for units receiving materiel.
Supports lateral transfers, redistribution operations, and retrograde issue requirements.
Coordinates with transportation teams for outbound shipment processing and scheduling.
Ensures audit readiness and compliance with AR 710-2, DA PAM 710-2-2, AR 735-5, and theater directives.
Participates in logistics boards, customer coordination meetings, and materiel readiness reviews.
Maintains accountability, safety, and operational continuity in austere or extreme-heat environments.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience or a HS Diploma and 9+ years of Army supply/logistics experience.
Strong working knowledge of SSA issue operations and materiel distribution.
Proficiency with GCSS-Army including outbound issue and MRO processing.
Experience resolving issue discrepancies, conducting causative research, and reconciling records.
Knowledge of controlled item handling and sensitive item accountability.
Understanding of Army supply regulations, customer support requirements, and theater logistics policies.
Ability to meet LOGCAP V deployment requirements.
Proficiency in GCSS-Army (warehouse and stock control functions).
Experience conducting inventories, causative research, and discrepancy reconciliation.
Knowledge of HAZMAT handling, packaging, and documentation requirements.
Familiarity with intermodal, retrograde, and theater-specific logistics operations.
Experience supervising Soldiers, DA civilians, or contractor personnel.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in austere, deployed, or extreme-climate environments.
Active U.S. Secret clearance (preferred).
Valid U.S. passport and ability to meet CRC deployment requirements.
Willingness to deploy to all areas within the CENTCOM AO or other assigned Southwest Asia locations.
Ability to stand, bend and lift 40 lbs.
CERTIFICATIONS
HAZMAT / HAZCOM certification (required or obtainable after hire).
Theater-required certifications (AT, OPSEC, Cyber, etc.).
Forklift / MHE certification (required or obtain after hire.).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is conducted in warehouse, yard, or outdoor environments with exposure to physical, environmental, and heat-related hazards. Required PPE includes head, hand, foot, torso, respiratory, and vision protection. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, host-nation standards, and applicable Army and company policies. Position may require extended duty hours.
