Night Auditor

The Opportunity

We are seeking aNight Auditor to be the calm, capable presence at our front desk overnight. They are equally adept at  balancing the books, welcoming late-arriving guests, and keeping watch over the hotel while the rest of the property sleeps. In this role, you are responsible for closing out the day's financials, running the night audit process, and serving as the primary guest service contact during overnight hours.

The idealNight Auditor is independent, detail oriented and unbothered by working while most people are asleep. They move comfortably between precise, methodical audit work and warm guest interactions — checking in a late flight arrival with the same genuine hospitality as a midday agent, then quietly running reports and reconciling accounts once the lobby goes quiet. Trustworthy and alert, they take real ownership of the property overnight. 

Key Responsibilities

·      Perform the nightly audit, balancing all revenue centers (front desk, cafe, bar) 

      reconciling daily transactions

·      Run and distribute end-of-day reports for hotel leadership

·      Process room charges, adjustments, and folio corrections accurately in the PMS

·      Complete check-ins, check-outs, and reservations for overnight and early-arrival guests

·      Answer phones and respond to guest requests promptly and courteously throughout the overnight shift

·      Conduct periodic walk-throughs of the lobby and public areas to monitor safety and security

·      Serve as the primary point of contact for guest emergencies or unusual situations overnight, following established protocols

·      Prepare the front desk and lobby for the morning shift, including reports, cash drawers, and handoff notes

·      Hand off the a.m. housekeeping staff with arrival, departure and stayover reports for morning preparedness

·      Monitor and respond to fire/life safety alarms or building systems per hotel procedures

·      Restock front desk and lobby supplies and maintain a clean, organized work area

·      Communicate clearly with the morning team on outstanding guest requests, discrepancies, or maintenance issues

·      Maintain accurate cash handling and complete nightly cash reconciliation

Qualifications

·      1+ year of front desk, night audit, or hotel accounting experience preferred

·      Experience with hotel PMS systems (e.g., Mews, Opera or similar) and basic accounting/reconciliation tasks

·      Strong attention to detail and comfort working independently with minimal supervision

·      Calm, level-headed demeanor and sound judgment when handling unexpected situations overnight

·      Basic math and cash-handling accuracy

·      Ability to stay alert and focused throughout an overnight shift

·      Willingness and ability to work overnight hours consistently, including weekends and holidays

·      Passion for hospitality and genuine care for guest safety and comfort, even during the quietest hours

Work Environment

·      Overnight, guest-facing role at the front desk with frequent computer, phone, and PMS use

·      Periodic walking throughout the lobby and public areas for security and safety checks

·      Solo or minimally staffed work environment for extended stretches of the shift

·      Occasional lifting of guest luggage or packages up to 25 lbs

Physical Requirements

Primarily front-desk based during overnight hours, with periodic walks through public areas and extended periods working independently. Requires consistent overnight availability, including weekends and holidays. Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
