Christie Clinic's department of Health Informatics is seeking a full-time Informatics Specialist at the State Street House in Champaign from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. This position will require additional hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call, as needed. This position will require the ability to travel to other locations, as needed, to support the department for training, rounding, and on-site support.
Under the supervision of the Health Informatics Manager, the EMR Application Specialist provides supervision of the maintenance and support of the Christie Clinic Electronic Medical Record and troubleshooting relating to user and/or software problems. Duties also include training and assisting team members in the efficient and effective use of the EMR.
Job Qualifications and Expectations
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Develop and maintain a thorough, working knowledge of the EMR application system.
- Work closely with the EMR host to monitor and maintain the application.
- Work closely with Christie System Administrators to establish EMR user access and security.
- Assist in the maintenance of the EMR system, including, but not limited to, office and online department schedules, training environment maintenance, and appropriate alignment of education materials.
- Monitor system utilization, anticipate software upgrades and enhancements to obtain maximum operation and performance.
- Develop EMR education and training policies, procedures, and instruction manuals, including PowerPoint presentations, video productions, and other educational media forums.
- Support the Academy of EDE members and program, including monthly presentations development and delivery; onsite support when needed.
- Perform new team member and training for existing team members for clinic systems, including train-the-trainer programs.
- Work closely with team members, administrators, clinical departments, providers (when appropriate), and business services to ensure workflows are designed and followed appropriately. This includes design sessions, implementing new workflows, and education and re-education efforts.
- Provide application support to end users via phone, email, and on-site.
- Test new versions of any clinical systems application as they are made available to Christie Clinic.
- Support and participate in any development partnerships to meet the clinical needs and use of new clinical systems within Christie Clinic.
- Manages assigned projects to ensure adherence to the schedule and scope of the project.
- Sets and tracks project milestones, managing unforeseen delays and realigning schedules and expectations as needed.
- Establish project communication plans, including project status updates to affected teams and stakeholders.
- Analyze risk and provide regular communication to department team leaders and managers. Initiate proactive steps to minimize delivery delays.
- Work with departments and coordinators to establish and maintain standard work.
- Maintain a high level of motivation and enthusiasm in the implementation and training process.
- Assist Information Systems staff with additional projects as required.
- Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in an applicable field required.
- One year of experience in a clinical setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous work experience requires verifying attendance, ability to work independently, and strong communication skills
- One year of teaching/training experience, preferably in a technical, educational, or health care setting
- Strong background in Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Visio)
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- Current driver’s license with appropriate insurance coverage.
- EPIC Principal Trainer Certification/Accreditation (Ambulatory or Cadence) required within 6 months of employment
- 2nd Epic Principal Trainer Certification/Accreditation (Ambulatory or Cadence) required within 9 months of employment
- Maintain EPIC certifications as applicable
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20, and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment are required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a normal office setting and may require working irregular hours. Requirements include frequent contact with a variety of individuals.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
