Duties & Responsibilities:
About the roleÂ
This is a broad, hands-on industrial engineering role in a high-mix, low-volume electronics manufacturing environment.Â
This role is open to candidates from recent graduates through several years of experience. We will scope the responsibilities to what you bring, but the breadth is the point: if you want a narrow assignment with a stable product mix, this is not it. If you want to see the entire operation early in your career and be given room to fix what is broken, read on.Â
What you'll doÂ
Process & manufacturing engineeringÂ
- Develop, document, and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and standard work for new and existing productsÂ
- Perform time studies, line balancing, and work-content analysis. Â
- Collaborate with engineering to design and improve workstations, fixtures, tooling, and material presentation for ergonomics, throughput, and quality.Â
- Support factory layout and material flow work, including equipment moves and cell reconfigurations.Â
- Support new product introduction as a manufacturing voice — DFM feedback, first-article build support, pilot runs, and transition to production.Â
Capacity, planning & scheduling supportÂ
- Help build and maintain the capacity model: work-center utilization, labor availability, bottleneck identification, and load-versus-capacity over a rolling horizon.Â
- Partner with production planning on constraint analysis, build sequencing, and realistic commit dates.Â
- Model the operational impact of demand changes, staffing scenarios, and shift structures.Â
- Identify bottlenecks and drive corrective action, whether that is tooling, cross-training, layout, or outsourcing.Â
Analysis & reportingÂ
- Build reporting and analysis tools that give production, planning, and leadership actionable visibility into throughput, labor, and schedule performanceÂ
- Pull and reconcile data from ERP and shop floor sources to answer operational questions quickly and accuratelyÂ
- Turn analysis into recommendations that hold up to scrutiny — show the math, state the assumptions, and quantify the impactÂ
- Support testing and rollout of new manufacturing execution capability from the user sideÂ
Quality & continuous improvementÂ
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action for process-driven defectsÂ
- Drive lean and continuous improvement activity — kaizen events, 5S, standard work, waste elimination — with measured before-and-after resultsÂ
Cost & make-versus-buyÂ
- Support product cost modeling grounded in actual routing and labor dataÂ
- Quantify and justify capital requests, automation proposals, and process investmentsÂ
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
Required qualificationsÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical disciplineÂ
- 0–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or operations engineering role; new graduates with relevant internship or co-op experience are encouraged to applyÂ
- Coursework or working experience in time study, work measurement, process design, and capacity analysisÂ
- Familiarity with how an ERP/MRP system drives production planning and shop floor executionÂ
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel; comfort building your own tools rather than waiting for ITÂ
- Ability to communicate credibly with machine operators, technicians, engineers, and executives — often in the same dayÂ
- Willingness to spend real time on the floorÂ
Preferred qualificationsÂ
- High-mix, low-volume exposure — configured-to-order, engineered-to-order, or job-shop environmentsÂ
- Electronics or electromechanical assembly and test backgroundÂ
- Experience in an AS9100, ISO 9001, or ISO 13485 environmentÂ
- Scripting or data automation experience (Python, SQL, VBA)Â
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)Â
- CAD proficiency for layout, fixture design, or toolingÂ
Working conditionsÂ
- On-site role in an office and manufacturing environment; regular time on the production floorÂ
- Occasional lifting up to [25–50] lbs; standing and walking for extended periodsÂ
- Required PPE including safety glasses and ESD protectionÂ
- Travel between manufacturing sites as neededÂ
EligibilityÂ
This position requires access to information subject to U.S. export control regulations (ITAR/EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. Person as defined under those regulations, or otherwise eligible to obtain required authorization.Â
