Implementation Analyst – Core ACH Payment Applications
Job Description
Position Summary
The Implementation Analyst coordinates and executes the implementation, configuration, testing, and production readiness of PIM (Paperless Item Module), an ACH payment application integrated with the Premier Core Banking Platform for financial institutions and business clients. The role owns day-to-day project coordination across the implementation lifecycle by translating client requirements into accurate system configurations, maintaining schedules and action plans, managing risks and dependencies, validating ACH file processing, coordinating issue resolution, and ensuring each solution meets established security, risk, compliance, quality, and service standards. This position provides a foundation for advancement into project management through increasing responsibility for planning, stakeholder communication, governance, and delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage assigned ACH implementation projects from discovery through production launch and post-implementation stabilization, including scope, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
Support complex strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, mergers, core migrations, and platform conversions, by coordinating requirements, configuration, testing, data validation, and production readiness.
Gather and document business, operational, technical, security, and reporting requirements from clients and internal stakeholders.
Configure PIM, client profiles, processing parameters, user entitlements, limits, approval workflows, transmission methods, and related services.
Validate NACHA-formatted files, including record structure, service class codes, transaction codes, effective entry dates, addenda records, routing information, and file and batch control totals.
Coordinate connectivity and file-transmission setup, including secure channels, automated transmissions, file naming conventions, encryption, scheduling, acknowledgments, and exception handling.
Develop, maintain, and execute integrated implementation plans, milestone schedules, test scripts, validation checklists, resource assignments, and production-readiness reviews.
Lead client testing activities, analyze test results, troubleshoot rejected or out-of-balance files, and coordinate defect resolution with product, development, operations, and support teams.
Facilitate project status meetings; maintain decisions, risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and action items; communicate progress to stakeholders; and escalate matters that may affect scope, schedule, quality, resources, or client readiness.
Support ACH processing capabilities such as credits, debits, prenotes, reversals, returns, notifications of change, Same Day ACH, and scheduled or recurring payments, as applicable to the solution.
Ensure implementations follow internal controls, information-security requirements, applicable operating procedures, and current ACH network rules and guidelines.
Create and maintain configuration records, implementation documentation, operational handoff materials, and client-facing instructions.
Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions and support a smooth transition to production support, operations, and relationship-management teams.
Identify and lead process-improvement initiatives, document lessons learned, support change-control decisions, and recommend standards that improve implementation quality, delivery predictability, operational efficiency, and the client experience.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information systems, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience supporting payment systems, treasury management products, banking operations, financial technology, software implementations, or client onboarding.
Working knowledge of ACH processing concepts, payment lifecycles, file-based integrations, and transaction exception handling.
Ability to analyze structured data files, identify discrepancies, and communicate technical findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
Strong project coordination, organization, documentation, and time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage concurrent implementations, competing priorities, milestones, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a deadline-driven, controlled environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead client discussions and provide concise project updates.
Proficiency with spreadsheet, presentation, collaboration, project-scheduling, documentation, and issue-tracking tools, with working knowledge of project-management practices such as work breakdown, milestone tracking, risk management, change control, and status reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of experience with ACH, electronic payments, bank implementations, treasury services, or payment operations.
Experience with the Premier Core Banking Platform is a significant advantage.
Familiarity with NACHA Operating Rules and common ACH Standard Entry Class codes.
Experience with secure file transfer, APIs, host-to-host connectivity, encryption, certificates, or automated scheduling.
Experience interpreting implementation specifications, data-mapping documents, application logs, or transmission reports.
Knowledge of risk controls related to transaction limits, dual approval, fraud prevention, data protection, and audit readiness.
Career Progression
Build proficiency in implementation planning, milestone management, risk and issue tracking, stakeholder communication, and change control.
Progress to leading larger or higher-risk implementations, coordinating multiple workstreams, and mentoring peers on delivery practices.
Demonstrate readiness for a Project Manager role by independently managing scope, schedule, resources, governance, executive reporting, and measurable delivery outcomes.
Core Competencies
Client focus and professional communication
Analytical thinking and root-cause analysis
Technical aptitude and data accuracy
Project ownership and accountability
Risk awareness and control discipline
Cross-functional collaboration
Adaptability and continuous improvement
Measures of Success
Implementations are completed accurately, on schedule, and within agreed scope.
Testing defects, configuration errors, and production incidents are minimized through effective validation and quality controls.
Clients receive timely communication, clear guidance, and a well-managed transition to production.
Documentation is complete, current, and suitable for audit, support, and operational handoff.
Risks, dependencies, and issues are identified early and resolved or escalated appropriately.
