The Imaging Assistant position is responsible for transporting patients, maintaining a clean work area and assisting the technologist as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required.

Work Environment

• Works in clinical areas and throughout the medical center.
• Exposure to blood and body fluids, isolation patients, radiation, dangerous chemicals, hazardous fumes, medical gases, varying temperatures and dimly lit areas.

Physical Demands

• Stand and or walk constant.
• Sit occasionally.
• 50 pounds and carry 100 feet frequently.
• Push and/or pull 50 pounds frequently.
• Climb 1 step occasionally.
• Bend, crouch and stoop frequently.
• Reach floor-shoulder frequently.
• Visual acuity, manual dexterity and eye hand coordination within normal limits occasionally.

Essential Functions

• Primary responsibility is to safely and efficiently transport patients needing examinations done in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Should be knowledgeable in the safe transporting of trauma, critical or isolation patients.
• Demonstrates proper use of medical equipment used in the transporting of patients. This includes but is not limited to carts, wheelchairs, smooth movers, and oxygen tanks.
• Maintains the supply of oxygen tanks in the department.
• Keeps all medical equipment used in the transporting of equipment clean and sanitary.
• Reports any equipment in need of repair to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
• Assists the technologists as needed.
