Buyer/Planner – Heritage and TPC

To procure components and services from suppliers to support internal demand from Heritage and TPC (Testing of a Previous Car), and to plan that supply against the Heritage and TPC build, test and event calendars. The role acts as lead buyer across both programmes and as the single point of contact for TPC integration with the wider Car Programme Management function, working closely with production and engineering to secure parts at the optimum balance between lead time, quality and price, whilst maintaining clear segregation from in-cap Direct Procurement resource and cost cap workstreams. Location: Williams Heritage, Witney. Role scope: Heritage and TPC (Testing of a Previous Car).

Main Duties:

• Procure components and services for Heritage and TPC, working closely with production and engineering to ensure sourcing achieves the optimum balance between lead time, quality and price.
• Process purchase orders for Heritage and TPC goods and services, ensuring heritage engineering specifications, processes and engineering issues are fully communicated, and the purchase requirement is appropriately authorised.
• Negotiate the commercial aspects of supplier quotes to secure favourable business terms, maintaining accurate purchase system records for the Heritage and TPC commodities.
• Check supplier acknowledgements and challenge where required, resolving non-conformances quickly to minimise delay to the Heritage manufacturing process and the TPC programme.
• Lead the tender process and create new contracts with clear deliverables, terms and conditions, driving suppliers and contractors to achieve the required outcomes.
• Conduct supplier audits across Heritage and TPC.
• Forecast Heritage and TPC demand, translating the build, test and event calendars into material requirements, order dates and delivery timelines.
• Maintain the supply plan against those calendars, managing delivery risk proactively, holding stakeholders to account for plan dates and reporting status against relevant metrics.
• Engage and communicate with internal stakeholders across heritage, creative and parts logistics to keep them informed of progress on outsourced Heritage and TPC parts.
• Act as the single point of contact for TPC integration with the wider Car Programme Management function, maintaining clear segregation of out-of-cap Heritage and TPC activity in line with cost cap requirements.

Qualifications and Experience Level:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a procurement role, preferably motorsport.
• Demonstrable ability to manage an extremely large and high-paced order book.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes in a high-performance engineering setting.
• Experience of planning or scheduling material demand in a manufacturing environment.
• Competent Excel skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Project or an equivalent planning tool.
