- Supervise the refurbishing team during a refurbishing project
- Responsible for the quality control of the work done for all the crew under his supervision
- Accountable for keeping a proper work schedule of the subordinates in order to keep the overall schedule
- Accountable for coordinating the work process to streamline the operation and improve productivity
- Accountable for the quality and final result of the areas to be refurbished
- Responsible for the coordination with other departments during the project
- Accountable for keeping an inventory of all work materials, and equipment and seeing that these are safely stowed with fire precautions taken
- Provide professional and social guidance to subordinates by exemplary personal behavior
- Responsible for the tidiness of the working area
- Responsible for fire precautions, especially when storing and handling hazardous materials
- Be familiar with the safety and technical equipment used by the Deck department and responsible for the proper use of the equipment
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum seven years experience working as a Project Manager on ships interior & maintenance
- Minimum five years experience in a position of Chief Carpenter (or equivalent)
- Experienced, skilled and adept in all aspects of ship’s interior carpentry, civil, tiling, and man made materials
- Good computer skill for tracking work, and ordering and taking delivery of spares/consumables
- Strong in supervision, organizational skills & executing time bound projects
- Good communicator & coordinator with inter personal relation skills
- Able to work under time pressure, adjust and adapt in a constantly changing environment
- Highly detail oriented
- Knowledgeable in:
- Surface preparation and application of different materials (different paints and lacquer)
- Furniture woodwork
- Tile application caulking and grouting
- Upholstery
- Plumbing & Welding works
Additional Information
This is a SHIPBOARD role.You must:
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
- Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
- Complete a pre-employment medical
- Obtain a criminal background check
