Role OverviewÂ
We are looking for a Senior User Researcher with 5 to 8 years’ experience to join the Research and Insights team at Group Design in DBS. You will run end-to-end research studies that shape how our clients and employees experience digital banking and wealth products from early discovery through to usability evaluation of live journeys.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Scope research questions with design, product and business stakeholders, and choose the method that answers them.Â
- Not everything has to be tested. You will identify when research is required and when best practices are the way to go. You will help us communicate that to our stakeholders.Â
- Work across generative and evaluative research including discovery interviews, concept testing, moderated and unmoderated usability testing, surveys, desk research and competitive reviews.
We've done some interesting things: a diary study where people logged every payment they made and ethnography observing how small merchants are coping with digital payments. We like to experiment, and hope you will join in. - Turn findings into actionable deliverables with prioritised insights, journey maps, opportunity framing that get your colleagues seeing to see through the eyes of end users.Â
- Present and defend findings to audiences from working level to senior stakeholdersÂ
Your team
You will join the Consumer Banking Group (CBG) in Research & Insights team, reporting to the CBG Research Lead. You will own research for Wealth projects across client and employee experience.Â
You’re a great fit if you:Â
- Have 5 to 8 years of relevant experience owning the research process end-to-endÂ
- Are strong in both qualitative and quantitative methods. In practice: interviewing, moderation, usability testing, card sorting, survey design and analysis, heuristic evaluations, and interpret behavioural data alongsideÂ
- Have actively applied AI across your research workflow and is discerning on where it helped, when not to use it, and whyÂ
- Communicate eloquently and effectively to hold a room of senior executives. At DBS, research has a seat and influence in the room.Â
- Are comfortable operating in fast-paced, highly ambiguous environments.Â
- Are genuinely empathic with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.Â
Bonus points
- You have experience in the fintech industry.Â
- You've been a designer yourself (or have some design experience). We find that it really helps when working with designers.Â
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors) or equivalent practical experience.Â
- A portfolio of two or three case studies showing research that changed a decision, with your own role in each clearly stated.Â

About the design team
Hi, we are the DBS user experience design team
We create digital products that deserve to be built because they solve real problems in an impactful way with empathy.
Â
How we design
We go beyond numbers
Every dollar means something. No one actually wants money. We want what it can give us. So we acknowledge that money is not really about money. We inject emotion into our products to go from transactional to magical.
Â
We have one profound idea
Because ambiguity is the enemy of good user experience. What is our unique value proposition? Would adding another feature dilute the idea or make it stronger?
