About Project 26:
Project 26 Pennsylvania, founded in 2023, is a student and youth voter focused organization working across the commonwealth to engage, register, educate, persuade, and mobilize young voters to become active participants in our shared civic landscape. Our goal is to promote and expand democracy in Pennsylvania by elevating youth leadership in order to get organized, vote in key elections, and exercise our power to take control of our lives through civic engagement.
Overview:
In 2026 Project 26 Pennsylvania expanded our Voter Protection team to require a Deputy Voter Protection Director to support this growing program. This role will be responsible for managing the expansion of the reach of P26’s non-partisan voter protection work both directly with young voters, with stakeholders on campus, and with county governments. The Deputy Voter Protection Director will directly manage the Voter Protection Organizers, who separately manage Voter Protection Fellows, and will work closely in collaboration with the Voter Protection Director.
What this Role will Ask of You:Â
ManagementÂ
- Leading and directly managing the Voter Protection Organizing team to their county and turf specific goals, which includes the management of the voter protection fellowship program
- Recruiting, training, and deploying poll observer volunteers both in the field on Election DayÂ
Voter Engagement and Education
- Leading research projects to inform 2026 voter education materials, including finding gaps in the current portfolio and creative communication strategy to best serve an audience of young voters
- Assisting in the design and preparation of messaging and materials for other department’s direct voter contactÂ
- Act as a strategic thought partnerÂ
- Supporting voter registration quality control & training programsÂ
- Spending time in the field as neededÂ
Election AdministrationÂ
- Stewardship of existing relationships in program countiesÂ
- Additional stakeholder relationship development both at the county, campus, and state levelÂ
Greater Team InteractionsÂ
- Regular check ins with Voter Protection and P26 leadershipÂ
- Coordination with other departments as neededÂ
- Participation in external coalition workÂ
What You Bring to the Role:Â
- 3 - 5 years of experience in democracy work, campaign organizing, or issue advocacyÂ
- 2+ year in a role that involved management of direct reportsÂ
- Adept ability to think creatively
- Comfortable working as a facet of a larger teamÂ
- Experience remotely managing teams, both paid and volunteerÂ
- Familiarity with elections in PennsylvaniaÂ
- Interest in growing your own skills and expertise in the voter protection spaceÂ
- Experience voting on campus (good, neutral, or bad)Â
- Experience in political messaging and audience tailoringÂ
- Creative approaches to information sharing, design, and communication
- Motivation to see youth voices taken more seriously by decision makers on and off campus
- Desire to see increased voter turnout in 2026
- Familiarity with VAN and ScaleToWinÂ
Ts & Cs of the Role:
- Weekday availability from 9am - 5pm EST, with increased work load periods around GOTVÂ
- Ability to work remotely & travel for approx. 1x a month in person meetingsÂ
- Compensation is  $7,120.00 a month with benefitsÂ
- A travel stipend or mileage reimbursement for all role specific travel
- Reports directly to the Voter Protection DirectorÂ
