Job Description

Ares is seeking an Analyst, Software Engineer to join the Credit Technology Engineering team and contribute to the development, testing, deployment, and support of technology solutions powering the firm’s global credit investment platform.Ā 

Reporting to the VP, Credit Engineering Lead, this role will serve as an early-career hands-on software engineer, working with senior engineers to build applications, APIs, data services, and platform capabilities across the credit investment lifecycle, including deal origination, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, risk management, and investment analytics.Ā 

The successful candidate will contribute directly to software development while building skills in modern full-stack engineering, cloud-native development, software delivery practices, testing, documentation, and production support.Ā 

The ideal candidate will bring strong software engineering fundamentals, a desire to learn enterprise application development, and an interest in financial services, investment management, credit, lending, or alternative asset management technology.Ā 

This individual will collaborate closely with engineers, Product Management, Investment Technology stakeholders, and business partners to deliver maintainable, high-quality technology solutions that support the firm’s growing credit business.Ā 

Primary functions & responsibilities-

Hands-On Software DevelopmentĀ 

•Develop software features and enhancements under the guidance of senior engineers.Ā 

• Contribute to front-end, backend, integration, and data-layer development activities.Ā 

• AssistĀ in building andĀ maintainingĀ APIs, services, and user-facing applications supporting investment workflows.Ā 

• Write clean, maintainable code aligned with established engineering standards.Ā 

• ParticipateĀ in code reviews and incorporate technical feedback from senior engineers.Ā 

Application Testing & SupportĀ 

• ParticipateĀ in unit testing, integration testing, release validation, and deployment support activities.Ā 

• AssistĀ with troubleshooting, debugging, and production support under the direction of senior engineers.Ā 

• Support documentation of application functionality, technical changes, operational procedures, and support runbooks.Ā 

• HelpĀ maintainĀ application reliability, quality, and operational stability.Ā 

Platform Learning & Technical DevelopmentĀ 

• Develop knowledge of the firm’s credit technology ecosystem and investment workflows.Ā 

• BuildĀ proficiencyĀ in full-stack engineering practices, APIs, databases, cloud-native development, and DevOps processes.Ā 

• Learn modern engineering practices related to source control, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and software delivery.Ā 

• Stay current on relevant technologies, frameworks, and development patterns.Ā 

Cloud, Data & Integration SupportĀ 

• AssistĀ in developing solutions using cloud-native technologies and containerized application patterns.Ā 

• Support integrations across investment platforms, reporting platforms, operational systems, and enterprise data environments.Ā 

• Contribute to solutions using relational and non-relational database technologies.Ā 

• Support data delivery, reporting, and analytics capabilities in partnership with senior engineers and Data & AI teams.Ā 

Software Development LifecycleĀ 

• ParticipateĀ in all phases of the software development lifecycle.Ā 

• Work within Agile delivery processes and team ceremonies.Ā 

• Use source control, CI/CD pipelines, development tools, and release processesĀ in accordance withĀ team standards.Ā 

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on code quality, delivery effectiveness, and operational support.Ā 

Team CollaborationĀ 

•Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, business analysts, and Investment Technology stakeholders.Ā 

• Communicate progress, risks, blockers, and technical questions clearly and proactively.Ā 

• DemonstrateĀ ownership, attention to detail, accountability, curiosity, and willingness to learn.Ā 

• Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on technical excellence and business partnership.Ā 

Qualifications

Education: BS in Computer Science or related field is required

Experience Required:Ā 

•1-2 years of software engineering experience.Ā 

• Academic, internship, co-op, or early professional experience developing software applications preferred.Ā 

• ExperienceĀ participatingĀ in software projects through coursework, internships, co-ops, or professional roles.Ā 

• Experience collaborating with engineers, product managers, business analysts, or project teams preferred.Ā 

• Exposure to enterprise application development, production support, or Agile delivery environments preferred.Ā 

• Financial services experience is notĀ required; interest in financial services, investment management, credit, or lending technology is preferred.Ā 

• DemonstratedĀ ability to learn quickly, solve problems, incorporate feedback, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Ā 

General Requirements:Ā 

Technical SkillsĀ 

• Knowledge of Java or similar object-oriented programming languages.Ā 

• Knowledge of React, TypeScript, or modern front-end development frameworks preferred.Ā 

• Basic understanding of relational and non-relational database concepts.Ā 

• Basic understanding of APIs, web services, and application integration concepts.Ā 

• Familiarity with Git, source control, automated testing, and CI/CD concepts.Ā 

• Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, Kubernetes, containers, or DevOps tools preferred.Ā 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ā

• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code.Ā 

• Willingness to learn engineering standards, design patterns, and software delivery best practices.Ā
