Job Description Summary
GE Vernova has been executing multiple projects for HVDC system utilizing line-commutated converter (LCC) and Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology. There have been requirements to provide after-sales support for close-out projects. As an Aftersales Lead Control & Protection System Application Engineer, you will be closely coordinating with the Aftersales Team leader. The selected candidate will be expected to fulfill following responsibilities.Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Updating the control & Protection system as per the requirements.
- Accountable forpreparing the responses to technical queries from clients andsolving customer issues.
- Able to performDynamic Performance Studies (DPS) and other design studies based on aftersales requirements usingsimulation tools (i.e. PSCAD. MATLAB)
- Control and protection parameters re-tuning to meet grid stability criteria.Â
- Able to do plant modelling in various simulation tools (MATLAB, PSCAD etc) and its verification.
- Design, develop, model, implement & debug control systems algorithmsfor HVDC converter functionsusingMATLAB/Simulinkadhering to established functional requirements and internal development standards.
- Integrate and validate functional blocks based on pre-defined control requirements and interface specifications.
- Conversion of MATLAB Simulink algorithms to PSCAD models
- Able to performmodel-in-the-loop (MIL) verification according to the project requirement.
- Collaborate with system engineers, functional designers, and testers inagile sprints, ensuring tasks are tracked and documented in JIRA.
- Play key role intechnical reviews, unit testing, and integration sessions to ensure model quality and maintainability.
- Manage version control and branching activities throughSVN/GitHub Enterprise.
- Work closely with other engineers to complement existing resources and drive successful execution.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor in Engineering in Electrical / Electronic or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Power Systems, Control Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering.
- Previous participation inHVDC or FACTS or Renewable control/protection development projects.
- Familiarity with HVDC control concepts (alpha angle control, DC current regulation, extinction angle, PLL, protection interlocks etc.)
- Better to have experience with HVDC systems or power electronics control, ideally with LCC/VSC technology.
- Experience inmodel-based design for control systems usingMATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with Dynamic Performance Studies using Electromagnetic transient simulation tools (i.e. PSCAD, MATLAB).
- Proficiency inversion control tools (SVN/GitHub) and collaborative workflows (branching, pull requests, merge handling).
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, attention to detail in model implementation.
- Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
