UMX is an established marine construction and commercial diving company seeking an organized, approachable HR Generalist to manage recruiting, onboarding, and day-to-day HR operations.

The HR Generalist takes ownership of day-to-day recruiting, onboarding, employee recordkeeping, and HR administrative processes. This person is expected to manage routine responsibilities independently, keep deadlines on track, and follow tasks through to completion, escalating matters that require management approval or additional guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting through Indeed and BambooHR, including job postings, candidate sourcing and screening, interview coordination, and the offer process.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, including required paperwork, initiating background checks and drug screenings, and helping employees prepare for their first day.
  • Set up new hires and maintain employee records in BambooHR and ADP Workforce Now, ensuring information stays accurate and current across both systems.
  • Maintain employee benefits records in Employee Navigator, keeping enrollment information and employee updates organized and current.
  • Track employee review schedules and follow up with managers to ensure reviews are completed on time.
  • Keep job descriptions and role scorecards up to date across the organization, working with management to confirm responsibilities and expectations.
  • Support disciplinary recordkeeping by helping managers maintain accurate, complete, and organized documentation.
  • Assist employees with questions and concerns, providing clear guidance and coordinating appropriate follow-up.
  • Coordinate new hire equipment needs with UMX’s IT provider, serving as the liaison to help ensure required equipment is ready when employees start.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, management, psychology, organizational leadership, industrial/labor relations, or a related field.
  • Current SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant HR experience, including hands-on full-cycle recruiting, employee onboarding, and HR administration.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
  • Clear communication skills and a professional, helpful approach with employees and managers.
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential employee information.
  • Comfort with routine data entry, documentation, scheduling, and working across multiple software systems.
  • Ability to manage routine HR responsibilities independently and recognize when additional guidance or approval is needed.

Experience with BambooHR and ADP Workforce Now is preferred. Familiarity with Indeed and Employee Navigator is a plus.

If you enjoy supporting employees, coordinating hiring, and keeping HR processes organized, we encourage you to apply with your resume.
