POSITION
HR Generalist

Position Type:
Temporary
Schedule: M-F, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Assignment Length: Approximately 2-3 Months, possibly longer.

DESCRIPTION

The HR Generalist will support a broad range of human resources functions with a strong focus on employee relations, HR compliance, investigations, workforce analysis, and management support. This position will serve as a trusted resource to employees, managers, and supervisors by providing guidance on HR policies, employment practices, corrective actions, and workplace concerns.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of federal and state employment regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to independently manage sensitive employee relations matters from initial investigation through resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, resolve, and make recommendations regarding employee relations issues through thorough, objective, and well-documented investigations.
  • Advise leaders, managers, and supervisors on HR policies, procedures, employment practices, and applicable employment laws.
  • Provide guidance regarding corrective actions, suspensions, involuntary terminations, and other employee-related matters.
  • Administer unemployment insurance processes, review liability reports, monitor program costs, and recommend policy or process changes as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state employment, wage and hour, and discrimination laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and confidential HR documentation, including investigation notes, follow-up correspondence, case summaries, and related records.
  • Serve as an employee resource by providing guidance, career development support, and assistance with workplace and employment-related concerns.
  • Manage HR and employee relations projects by establishing objectives, developing milestones, identifying critical tasks, coordinating implementation, and monitoring progress through completion.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret HR and workforce data and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Collaborate with other HR team members to support effective communication and positive operational outcomes related to employee relations, employee activities, projects, and terminations.
  • Independently identify priorities and take initiative to address HR needs without requiring direct assignment.
  • Support departmental performance improvement initiatives and recommend new processes or procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Analyze workforce metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct and document exit interviews and analyze feedback for recurring trends or areas of concern.
  • Develop and conduct employee or management training as requested.
  • Participate in organizational meetings and serve as a strategic HR partner to leadership and staff.
  • Coordinate and support onsite employee events and activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 4–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state labor, employment, and wage and hour laws.
  • Experience handling employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and workplace concerns.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and other standard HR/business software.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft HRIS.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources)
  • Previous Human Resources experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience with employee relations investigations and compliance in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience analyzing workforce metrics and HR trends.
  • Experience developing or delivering employee and management training.
