AI Product Engineer

About the Role

We’re looking for a talented and drivenAI Product Engineer to join our team atBunkerhill Health. Our platform processes over200,000 CT scans andmillions of patient records each year — directly improving patient outcomes across multiple health systems.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of product features end-to-end, from design through deployment, working closely with cross-functional partners to deliver software that impacts real patients. We do not have product managers, so a lot of what a PM would do at typical companies is the responsibility of an AI Product Engineer at Bunkerhill. You will be working on building and deploying cutting edge agentic workflows at scale. You’ll thrive if you enjoy solving diverse technical problems and working at the intersection of product and engineering. This role is primarily backend focused, with opportunities to contribute across the stack.

We have a beautiful sunny office in SoMa, San Francisco and we go in 4x a week!

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality, maintainable, and scalable technical work, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and readability.

• Take fullownership of product features, from ideation and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.

• Showinitiative by staying current on emerging technologies and suggesting improvements to our stack and processes.

• Demonstratereliability through proactive communication, clear timelines, and the ability to unblock yourself and others when needed.

• Spend time understanding and developing a deepintuition of the product that you're building

• Collaborate across disciplines — with clinicians, end users, non-technical members of the team — by translating goals into clear, actionable, technical solutions.

• Collaborate within engineering through active ideation, thoughtful code reviews, and helping teammates design and deliver robust solutions.

Requirements

• 2+ years of full-time software engineering experience

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Strong ability tolearn and adapt to new languages, frameworks, and technologies.

• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Our stack is primarilyPython + Rust

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

• A genuine interest in applying technology to improvehealthcare.

• Comfort using AI coding tools

Nice to Have

• Familiarity withinfrastructure tooling: Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize, Terraform, AWS/GCP.

• Experience withPython frameworks such as Django or Celery.

• Experience with or interest inRust.

• Familiarity with frontend languages and frameworks likeTypescript and React

• Willingness tointerface with end users and assist with use case discovery

• Comfort interacting withLLM tooling and willingness to learn about agentic workflows
