The American Housing Corporation is on a mission to solve the America’s housing crisis through all-out production. We believe that America’s affordability crisis is fundamentally a production crisis, and that solving it requires a vertically integrated development approach: We buy land, and manufacture, install, and sell our homes directly to customers. This is the only way to build at the scale necessary to solve this crisis.

The American Dream is built, not inherited. We're hiring the best engineers, designers, and builders to solve the hardest problem in America.

As theCNC Programmer, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for the multi-axis machining equipment used to produce components for our proprietary building system. You will translate engineering drawings and 3D models into efficient, accurate programs, develop tooling and machining strategies, and work closely with production and engineering to deliver safe, repeatable, high-quality manufacturing processes.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze engineering drawings, CAD models (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar), and technical specifications to determine machining processes, tooling, fixtures, and workholding methods.

  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills, lathes, and multi-tasking machines.

  • Generate accurate toolpaths that maximize material removal rates, minimize cycle times, maintain tight tolerances, and ensure safe, collision-free operation.

  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and depths of cut based on material properties, including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, plastics, and other production materials.

  • Perform program prove-outs, first-article inspections, and process validation on the production floor.

  • Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, chatter, dimensional errors, and surface-finish problems, and revise programs as needed.

  • Maintain organized program libraries, tooling documentation, setup sheets, and process documentation.

  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve manufacturability and provide design-for-manufacturing feedback.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle-time reduction, scrap reduction, tooling performance, quality, and process standardization.

  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and company policies and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a CNC Programmer in a precision machining environment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certificate in CNC Programming, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong proficiency with at least one major CAM software package; Mastercam preferred, with Fusion 360, SolidCAM, Siemens NX, or equivalent also acceptable.

  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming, including the ability to manually edit and troubleshoot programs at the control.

  • Experience programming multi-axis CNC equipment, including 3- and 4-axis mills and CNC lathes; 5-axis simultaneous machining and multi-tasking/mill-turn experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and 3D CAD models.

  • Strong working knowledge of machining principles, cutting-tool technology, speeds and feeds, workholding methods, and fixturing.

  • Familiarity with metrology tools and basic inspection techniques, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges; CMM experience is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of advanced CAM features, including high-speed machining strategies, rest machining, adaptive clearing, and toolpath optimization, preferred.

  • Experience with post-processor customization or CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, Mazak, Okuma, or equivalent, preferred.

  • Background in aerospace, medical, automotive, or other precision industries with tight-tolerance requirements preferred.

  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling preferred.

  • Lean manufacturing or continuous-improvement experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Candidates must be based in Austin, TX full-time.

  • This is a full-time, hourly position.

  • This role reports to the Production Manager.

  • This role requires significant time working on the production floor.

  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a machine-shop environment with exposure to noise, coolant, metal chips, and fiber dust; appropriate PPE is provided.

  • This role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and consistently lift and move 40–50 lbs.

  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime or adjusted hours may be required to support production needs.
