Academic Coordinator

Bridges to Adelphi Program

   

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibilities of the Academic Coordinator are to assist the Associate Director, Senior Associate Director, and Director of the Bridges to Adelphi Program in the overall administration and development of the program. Responsibilities include supervising the Academic Supervisors (see below), managing the graduate and undergraduate student staff (see below); and communicating and collaborating with other campus services (see below). The Academic Coordinator also supports the Director, Senior Associate Director, and Associate Director, as needed, on an ongoing basis.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $53,000 - $58,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

REPORTS TO:Associate Director of the Bridges to Adelphi Program

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Collaborate with the Associate Director in scheduling student academic meetings.

  2. Supervise Academic Supervisors, including: Meet weekly 1:1 to discuss the academic status of all students enrolled in the Bridges Program; Review Academic Coach, Learning Strategist, and Executive Organizer meeting reports with supervisors.

  3. Develop strategies that coordinate Academic Coaching, Learning Strategy, and Executive Organizing goals.

  4. Host weekly case conference.

  5. Manage undergraduate and graduate student staff, including collaborating with the Associate Director on interviewing, hiring, and training of graduate and undergraduate staff.

  6. Supervise undergraduate and graduate interns, as needed.

  7. Collaborates with Bridges research coordinator on outcomes and efficacy of the academic support services.

  8. Collaborate and communicate with Student Access Office to ensure students are receiving accommodations in a timely manner.

  9. Collaborate and communicate with the CASE Learning Center and Writing Center to assist with additional tutoring and support for students.

  10. Meet with parents and students to review academic progress and identify potential academic obstacles.

  11. Meets consistently with students on academic probation.

  12. Maintain confidential student records.

  13. Present workshops and at community events to promote Bridges Support Services.

  14. Provide transitional counseling

  15. Assist Director, Senior Associate Director, and Associate Director, as needed.

  16. Assist staff and students, as needed.

  17. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  1. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills.

  2. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and handling multiple responsibilities at once.

  3. Strong ability to fluctuate between collaborating with others and maintain independent working responsibilities.

  4. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Adelphi University Programs such as Moodle, Ecampus, CLASS, Degree Audit, MyAULife and Zoom.

  5. Knowledge and experience working with college students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

  6. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and 6 days per week.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Education, Communication Disorders is required. A Master's degree is preferred.

  2. Minimum of three years of job-related work experience individuals with autism spectrum disorder and/or other neurodiverse disorders is required.

  3. Job-related experience working in student services and higher education is preferred.
