JOB SUMMARY:

This hourly position reports to the Accommodation and Service Coordinator and assists in coordinating disability-related academic accommodations for Adelphi Students with disabilities. This hourly professional will provide an after-hours professional presence for the Student Access Office Testing Center, ensuring the success of processes by which the Student Access Office administers accommodated exams for students with disabilities. This position will work from September through May, Monday - Thursday from 2pm to 7pm.

SALARY INFORMATION:

The hourly rate for this position is $22.75

REPORTS TO:Accommodation and Service Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

1. Process student booking requests for accommodated exams.

2. Coordinate with Faculty to secure necessary exam materials and proctoring instructions.

3. Oversee and proctor exams in the Student Access Office Testing Center, ensuring that accommodations are properly implemented and that academic integrity standards are upheld.

4. Assist students during exams by contacting Faculty when needed, troubleshooting assistive technology and advising on the proper use of approved accommodations.

5. Track and manage inventory of supplies required for the Testing Center; collaborate with the Administrative Assistant and the Accommodation and Service Coordinator to facilitate timely procurement of necessary materials.

6. Maintain flexibility for additional shifts as-needed, particularly for high-volume periods such as midterms and final exams.

7. Serve as an advocate, resource, and referral for students with disabilities.

8. Participate in campus events and workshops facilitated or co-sponsored by the Student Access Office.

9. Offer additional availability for high-volume periods, especially Final Exam weeks.

10. Participate in accepted students day, open houses, and other Admissions recruitment events on and off campus.

11. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

1. Experience coordinating and implementing exams with accommodations in accordance with ADA standards.

2. Strong technology background, proficiency in educational platforms, assistive technologies and competence in learning new applications.

3. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to effectively liaise with students, faculty, administrators and staff regarding accommodation needs.

4. Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and effectively coordinate competing priorities.

5. Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations of students with a wide range of abilities.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor’s degree is required.

2. Master’s degree in Higher Education, Educational Technology, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or other related fields is preferred.

3. Minimum of one year of related work experience.

4. Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is preferred.
