Title: Hexagon EAM Developer/System Engineer (Part Time)
Duration: Total Estimated Project Hours: 1820 Hours – Spread over 3 Years
Location: New York, NY 10014 (Hybrid - This role is primarily office-based with the possibility of hybrid arrangements after an onboarding period)

Job Description:

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced HxGN EAM Developer and System Engineer to own, support, and continuously improve the agency's HxGN Enterprise Asset Management platform across on-premises and cloud environments. This role combines deep EAM configuration expertise, API and integration development, mobile platform support, upgrade planning, and the ability to perform limited, standards-based customization when configuration alone cannot meet business requirements. The ideal candidate can maintain the current on-premises environment, support EAM mobile users, and lead, materially contribute and implement a complete migration plan from on-premises HxGN EAM to HxGN EAM Cloud, including data migration, integrations, security, testing, cutover, and post-migration stabilization.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Configuration & Standards-Based Customization
  • Design, build, and maintain EAM screen configuration, including custom fields, user-defined fields (UDFs), screen designer layouts including mobile platform, menus, tabs, and module-level configuration across Work, Equipment, Materials, Purchasing, Projects, and related modules.
  • Configure and manage work order workflows, approval sequences, status transitions, activity/task codes, PM schedules, meter-based triggers, route structures, lookup codes, cost codes, commodity codes, class hierarchies, and other reference data structures.
  • Administer user security, user groups, screen permissions, data restrictions, organization/site access, manage Connector user accounts, and authentication settings.
  • Develop and manage KPI dashboards, standard reports, ad-hoc queries, and custom SQL reports using EAM reporting tools and database resources.
  • Perform EAM customizations when justified and approved, following Hexagon/HxGN EAM customization standards and upgrade-safe development guidelines; document the business need, technical design, risk, testing approach, and maintenance impact for each customization.
  • Apply a configuration-first approach, using customization only where configuration, workflow, screen designer, reports, alerts, or integrations cannot reasonably satisfy the requirement.

API, Integration & Data Exchange Development:
  • Develop and maintain integrations using HxGN EAM REST APIs and SOAP/Connector web services APIs, including authentication setup for Connector users and secure service accounts.
  • Design and implement bidirectional data exchanges between EAM and external systems such as ERP, SCADA, GIS, financial systems, HR platforms, identity platforms, and reporting/data warehouse environments using middleware or direct API calls.
  • Write and maintain integration scripts, ETL processes, and data transformation logic in languages such as Python, Java, .NET/C#, or PowerShell.
  • Troubleshoot API failures, synchronization issues, data mapping problems, and integration errors; monitor integration health and maintain logging, alerting, and operational runbooks.
  • Document API endpoints, authentication flows, payload structures, error-handling logic, integration architecture, data ownership, and support procedures.

EAM Mobile Platform Support:
  • Configure, support, and troubleshoot the HxGN EAM mobile platform, including mobile work order processing, asset/equipment lookup, inspections, checklists, materials usage, attachments, barcode/QR/RFID use cases, and field-user workflows.
  • Support mobile deployment, user access, role-based permissions, device compatibility, offline/online synchronization, mobile forms, and mobile data validation rules.
  • Partner with operations and field staff to optimize mobile screens, task flows, and usability while maintaining data quality, security, and enterprise supportability.
  • Coordinate with endpoint, MOM, network, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to resolve mobile connectivity, authentication, performance, and device-management issues.

On-Premises Operations, Cloud Migration & Platform Modernization:
  • Plan and execute HxGN EAM version upgrades and patch deployments, including pre-upgrade analysis, test planning, regression testing, cutover coordination, rollback planning, and post-upgrade validation.
  • Manage the full on-premises infrastructure stack, including application server (JBoss/WildFly, WebSphere, or equivalent), web server, database server (Oracle or MS SQL Server), server OS configuration, Java environments, and deployment artifacts.
  • Perform database administration and performance tasks including schema management, index optimization, archiving, query tuning, storage planning, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery coordination.
  • Develop and support a complete on-premises-to-cloud migration plan for HxGN EAM, including current-state assessment, application and database inventory, customization and integration rationalization, data cleansing, migration sequencing, environment strategy, testing, security review, cutover, communications, rollback, and post-go-live stabilization.
  • Support implementation and administration of HxGN EAM Cloud, including tenant/environment setup, role and access configuration, integration refactoring, SSO/security coordination, data migration validation, release management, vendor coordination, and cloud support procedures.
  • Maintain server OS configurations, Java environments, and deployment artifacts, coordinate with infrastructure teams on patching and capacity planning.
  • Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for the EAM application and database
  • Maintain non-production environments (DEV, QA, UAT, training/sandbox) and manage code/configuration promotion processes across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Monitor system performance, review logs, diagnose bottlenecks, and implement tuning recommendations in coordination with infrastructure, database, vendor, and business teams.

Technical Leadership & Support
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for HxGN EAM; provide Tier 2/3 support for application, mobile, integration, database, reporting, and platform issues.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, procurement, finance, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to translate business requirements into durable EAM configuration, integration, mobile, reporting, and development solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including system architecture diagrams, runbooks, configuration guides, mobile support procedures, migration plans, integration diagrams, test plans, and change logs.
  • Evaluate and implement new EAM modules, cloud features, mobile capabilities, AP\s, and platform releases; provide recommendations on roadmap, upgrade timing, technical debt, and modernization priorities.
  • Mentor junior administrators, analysts, developers, and power users on EAM configuration, data quality, mobile platform usage, change control, and best practices.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Infor EAM or HxGN EAM in a developer, configurator, system engineer, or system administrator capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience with HxGN EAM screen designer, workflow configuration, security administration, reporting, and module-level configuration across Work, Equipment, Materials, Purchasing, and related modules.
  • Experience performing approved HxGN EAM customizations or extension work when configuration is insufficient, with a clear understanding of standard EAM customization guidelines, upgrade impacts, documentation, testing, and supportability.
  • Demonstrated experience with HxGN EAM REST APIs and/or Connector/SOAP web services, including user setup, authentication, payload design, error handling, and end-to-end integration development.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (Oracle or MS SOL Server); ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, data validation scripts, and performance-tune database objects.
  • Experience planning and executing HxGN/Infor EAM version upgrades on-premises, including database migration, application server reconfiguration, environment validation, and post-upgrade support.
  • Experience supporting the HxGN EAM mobile platform, including mobile configuration, user support, synchronization troubleshooting, and field workflow optimization.
  • Experience with HxGN EAM Cloud or similar enterprise SaaS/EAM cloud environments, including cloud administration concepts, vendor coordination, release management, and security/access considerations.
  • Experience supporting or implementing an on-premises-to-cloud migration plan for EAM or a comparable enterprise application, including data migration, integration remediation, testing, cutover, and stabilization activities.
  • Solid understanding of Java application server administration (JBoss, WildFly, WebSphere, or equivalent) and enterprise application deployment practices.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or integration language: Python, PowerShell, Java, or .NET/C#.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex applications, databases, mobile, cloud, and integration issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with HxGN EAM v12.x and current HxGN EAM Cloud releases, including updated navigation, APIs, mobile capabilities, administration structure, and release cadence.
  • Hands-on experience leading or materially supporting a full HxGN EAM on-premises-to-cloud migration.
  • Background in enterprise integration patterns and middleware platforms such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Apache Camel, Azure Integration Services, or similar.
  • Familiarity with Hexagon documentation, support portals, cloud support processes, enhancement requests, and vendor escalation practices.
  • Experience integrating EAM with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, or similar financial/procurement platforms.
  • Experience with SSO/SAML, Azure AD/Entra ID, service accounts, certificate management, secure AP\ design, and enterprise cybersecurity review processes.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, change management, SDLC, release management, data governance, and formal testing practices in an enterprise environment.
  • HxGN EAM or Infor EAM certification is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

This role is primarily office-based with the possibility of hybrid arrangements after an onboarding period. Occasional after-hours availability is required for planned maintenance windows, upgrades, cloud migration cutovers, mobile deployment support, and critical incidents. Minimal travel may be required for vendor training, multi-site support, field-user engagement, or implementation activities. This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.
