About the Team — NOC (Network Operations Center)

The Network Operations Center (NOC) team is responsible for the health and availability of the network infrastructure powering Walmart US Stores, Sam's Club locations, and Distribution Centers. Our team consists of 10 members operating across a follow-the-sun model spanning the US and India, ensuring round-the-clock coverage and rapid response regardless of time zone.

At any given moment, the NOC team is the frontline safeguard ensuring that store, club, and distribution center networks remain operational — enabling associates and customers to communicate, transact, and operate without disruption. A network hiccup isn't just a technical event; it's a potential barrier to a customer's shopping experience or an associate's ability to serve them, and our team exists to prevent and resolve that impact as quickly as possible.

What you'll do:

 
•Identify and Troubleshoot network incidents prioritizing it based on the impact to Walmart associates and customers.
• Understand how to use monitoring tools which can help detect issues proactively and work toward a faster resolution
• Work with the urgency assigned to mitigate the issue within the SLA defined.
• Coordinate with counterpart teams to understand the details pertaining the issue and assist with resolution.
• Understand the need of the store and club business partners and work with them in tandem.
• Be crystal clear in written and oral communications. Work with US engineers and partners and handover status to US shift when India shift is over.
• Leverage the overall experience to gauge the situation and act swiftly as per the need of the hour
• Maintaining the network devices to be in compliance for efficient operation



What you'll bring:

• Minimum 3-4 years of pure network engineering experience – having worked in a NOC environment or project implementation team.
• Good experience handling network hardware – routers, switches & access points.
• Good to have - Linux and Python/ AI automation knowledge in network space

NOC Skillsets

• Networking background with Hands-on experience in Routing & Switching (CCNA/JNCIA/CCNP).
  Strong understanding and experience working on routers, switches, APs on various platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Meraki). Such as Cisco 2900, 4K ISR, ENCS5412, Cisco 3650, 3850, 4500, 6500, 9300, Juniper EX2300, EX4600 and Meraki MS425, MS225.
• Experience in routing protocols : RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS and BGP

• Strong troubleshooting skills on Juniper/Cisco and Meraki devices along with SDN knowledge.

• Understanding and troubleshooting of Switching concepts like  VLAN, VTP, STP, RSTP, Ether-Channels (PAGP & LACP) and Stacking.

• Basic knowledge of Broadcast/ARP/MAC address
• Wired & Wireless Networking knowledge 
• Should have hands on troubleshooting experience of VLAN
• Should have implemented and troubleshooted HSRP
• Hands on experience on MPLS protocol.

• Experience in IPSEC & DMVPN technology.

• Troubleshooting knowledge in wireless : CAPWAP, LWAPP protocols ,Cisco AP’s, Mist APs, MR46 Meraki APs and Wireless controllers.
• Usage of ticketing and troubleshooting tools like Service now and Wireshark respectively
•  WLAN IEEE802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax Test experience
• Performance WLAN tests (preferable)
• Knowledge in Nexus, automation and SDWAN technologies is an added advantage
• Scripting Knowledge of Automation Scripts - Python / Perl / TCL - added advantage
• Independent Project handling with analytical ability

Wireless ( Store & DC ):

• Maintaining the functionality of the stores/Clubs wireless connectivity and entirety of the network at all of our distribution centres.
• Troubleshooting general wireless slowness at stores and clubs/DC’s.
• Working a wide variety of wireless escalations through outlook and Service now.
• Working on all self-service incidents that are created by stores associates that relate to any potential wireless issues they are experiencing.
• Take calls from both associates and venders over a variety of wireless issues and push them to resolution.
• Working with store associates to power cycle any of the wireless hardware infrastructure if needed.
• Communicating with third party vendors to ensure that they have everything working on their equipment and for any equipment that needs to be replaced.
• We will also ensure that they are doing their part by getting hourly updates from them for any issues they have with their equipment
• Perform wired troubleshooting that could potentially affect wireless devices.
• Ensuring the switches power supply is giving enough POE to power on all of the access points.
• Checking DHCP Snooping on all switches and interfaces.
• Checking for DHCP/DNS errors in the ISP and ensuring that the wireless devices are receiving IP addresses.
• Performing in depth troubleshooting with members of management by having them recreate the issue while we track the device and pinpoint what exactly they are having issues with.
• Communicating with store associates for validation that they themselves and customers are able to use their personal and corporate devices without any issues or slowness.
• Validating the meshed AP in the yard of a DC are set up correctly.
• Work with the systems team at DCs to notify them of any Access points that are offline. Monitoring the store wireless environment and logistics environment.
• Monitor auto-generated tickets for down Access points and down Internet VRFs.
• Working with Wireless controllers – Cisco (HREAP),  MIST.
• Working with the wireless engineering team on certain changes to the environment.

Wired (Store & DC ):

• Troubleshooting packet loss, overutilization, and down circuits
• Troubleshoot any and all routing issues at store & DC level.
• Troubleshoot voice issues, from a single extension to all the voice at site. This includes static, one-way dialling, paging, stuck calls; and down voice gateways, and voice cards on routers.
• Troubleshoot end devices that are not receiving an IP address, not connecting, or are experiencing slowness.
• Work with third party vendors on incidents to troubleshoot and/or replace connections, cabling, and hardware.
• Working with L3 and Cisco on any TAC cases for the store wired/ voice environment.
• Working with sites to T/S down equipment before dispatching cabling and or replacements.
• Assisting Field Support on Down systems and Down Power situations.
• Monitoring overall ticket queues and making sure to maintain all tickets so that they do not go outside their SLA.
• Assisting Field Project Supervisors and Store Planners with port configurations whenever the tool fails them..
• Working with sites to troubleshoot and resolve spanning-tree issues.
• Troubleshooting impacting DC voice issues.
