Healthcare Billing Specialist

Job Overview:

The Billing Specialist will perform initial billing for Medicare and Non-Medicare payors for multiple clients. In this role, the Specialist will submit timely, accurate claim batches to various Medicare and non-Medicare payors electronically when available, or via fax or mail when electronic submission is not available. Additionally, a Billing Specialist will provide resolution to rejected claims in the non-Medicare clearinghouses and assist with unbilled reporting.

Responsibilities:

The Billing Specialist will be able to manage various responsibilities, including:

• Generating claims from various electronic medical record (EMR) billing systems

• Ensuring successful transmission of claim files

• Resolving rejected claims and claim batches

• Development and maintenance of internal spreadsheets

• Knowledge of and communication regarding issues related to billing, claims rejections, and unbilled accounts receivable

• Training staff, as needed

• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

Interested candidates should have outstanding intellectual capability, maturity and judgment. Successful candidates will meet the following qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 2+ years of healthcare revenue cycle experience, specifically in payment application and adjustment reviews

• Experience with Home Health/Hospice/ Skilled Nursing EMR systems a plus

• Excellent interpersonal skills, and an aggressive approach to excellence

• Provide excellent customer service to peers, management, and clients at all times

• Strong quantitative and analytic skills, Initiative to problem solve

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing working environment

Physical Requirements:

• Activities requiring a significant amount of sitting at office and work desks in front of a computer monitor.

• Regularly required to verbally communicate, listen, and give presentations as needed.
